We describe the peeling of an elastomeric strip adhering to a glass plate through van der Waals interactions in the limit of a zero peeling angle. In contrast to classical studies that predict a saturation of the pulling force, in this lap test configuration the force continuously increases, while a sliding front propagates along the tape. The strip eventually detaches from the substrate when the front reaches its end. Although the evolution of the force is reminiscent of recent studies involving a compliant adhesive coupled with a rigid backing, the progression of a front is in contradiction with such a mechanism. To interpret this behavior, we estimate the local shear stress at the interface by monitoring the deformation of the strip. Our results are consistent with a nearly constant friction stress in the sliding zone in agreement with other experimental observations where adhesion and friction are observed.

Bionic adhesive materials with 3D complex micro/nanostructures have several advantages of low preload, strong adhesion, switchable adhesion, etc. As the primary high-precision fabrication method for such materials, lithography is inherently limited by its 2D processing capabilities. Achieving complex 3D morphologies typically requires auxiliary processes, such as dipping and double-sided separate UV exposures, which increase both the complexity and limitations of the fabrication process.

This study investigates the combustion characteristics and critical thermodynamic conditions for the ignition of TC4 and TC17 alloys under high-speed friction conditions. The results indicate that, under identical rubbing conditions, both the critical pressure and the ignition temperature of the TC17 alloy are higher than those of the TC4 alloy. The critical ignition conditions for both alloys increase with thickness, while they decrease with increasing rotational speed, oxygen concentration, and oxygen pressure.

This study aimed to determine optimal washing and drying methods for maintaining the functionality of silver-coated conductive knitted fabrics, commonly used in wearable smart products. By investigating changes in the physical, chemical, and electrical properties of these fabrics under various care conditions, we sought to provide recommendations for their proper maintenance. Results showed that mechanical friction during washing, combined with the chemical effect of detergent and the effects of machine drying, led to peeling and oxidation of the silver layer, resulting in changes to the fabric's appearance, color and increased surface resistance.

This study investigated the structural and environmental recovery of weathered hydrocarbon-contaminated soils using low-carbon solutions and aimed to ascertain the suitability of the remediated soils for engineering purposes. 25% (/) of ground ripe (RPP) and unripe (UPP) waste plantain peels were each added to 1 kg weathered hydrocarbon-contaminated soil samples and monitored for 90 days. Biological, physicochemical, and engineering properties were analysed for all samples in triplicates.
