Objective: To evaluate the applicability of modified formulae based on plasma creatinine levels in Chinese diabetic patients with chronic kidney diseases (CKD).

Methods: A total of 294 diabetic patients were investigated. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was estimated with the Ruijin equation, Cockcroft-Gault (CG) and Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) formulae. The accuracy of estimated GFR was compared with technetium-99m diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid (99mTc-DTPA)-GFR (sGFR).

Results: Bland-Altman analysis demonstrated that the Ruijin equation was more consistent with sGFR than the other equations. However, all the equations were not very consistent with sGFR. The analysis showed that the slope of the Ruijin equation was closer to the identical line and indicated that the bias of Ruijin equation was lowest. The 15%, 30% and 50% accuracies of the Ruijin equation were higher than those of the other equations; the 30% accuracy of Ruijin equation was more than 70%.

Conclusion: Ruijin equation is more applicable in Chinese diabetic and CKD patients.

The anisotropic mechanical properties of fiber-embedded biological tissues are essential for understanding their development, aging, disease progression, and response to therapy. However, accurate and fast assessment of mechanical anisotropy in vivo using elastography remains challenging. To address the dilemma of achieving both accuracy and efficiency in this inverse problem involving complex wave equations, we propose a computational framework that utilizes the traveling wave expansion model.

To explore the image features and the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast. A total of 96 female patients with a solitary and histologically proven DCIS were analyzed retrospectively, and 100 female cases of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) lesions were used as the control group. The Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) category of breast lesions was assessed according to conventional ultrasound features.

Background: To clarify the fat attenuation index (FAI) change trend of peri-saphenous vein graft (SVG) and determine the association between FAI and graft disease progression based on CCTA images.

Methods: Patients with venous coronary artery bypass grafts (CABGs) were consecutively enrolled in this retrospective study. In study 1, 72 patients who had undergone 1, 3, and 5 years of CCTA examinations without graft occlusion were recruited, and generalized estimation equation was used to analyze the peri-SVG FAI change trend over time.

Article Synopsis
  • Stress can cause a lot of problems, and a type of therapy called Well-being Therapy (WBT) can help people feel better!
  • In a study, 66 medical workers struggling with too much stress tried either WBT or a program about healthy living for a total of eight sessions!
  • The results showed that those who did WBT felt less stressed and had better mental health compared to those who only learned about healthy lifestyles!
