By comparing human embrional gum fragments cultivated in vitro using the technique of Wolff and Haffen with adult gum fragments, the advantages of the fetal gum are evident; and this could serve as a point of departure for an analysis of the differentiation and the cytophysiology of this structure, which is still not very well known.

Cadmium (Cd) is among the most ecologically harmful heavy metals. The purpose of this work was to identify the biologically active components in dried oleo-resin-gum of extract (FAE) and assess their preventive efficacy against oxidative damage caused by Cd in rats. The biologically active components were identified using HPLC and GC-MS.

In a patient after implantation of a metal screw implant into the bone with suturing of the soft tissues above it after 6 months there was a spontaneous delimitation of the product by a thin strip of compact bone tissue, most likely formed from the bone structures damaged during the operation. Small bone fragments formed during the preparation of the implantation bed were found in the tissues as homogeneous eosinophilic deposits without inflammation and macrophage reactions.

Daily, primates take a variety of decisions to establish why, when, and where to move. However, little is known about the factors influencing and shaping primate daily routes. We investigated the decision-making processes linked to route planning in four groups of black lion tamarins (BLT-Leontopithecus chrysopygus).

The chemical characterization of natural products is often a complex task that demands powerful analytical techniques. Liquid chromatography with high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (HRMS/MS) is often employed, yet it can face hard challenges when isomeric species are present, and reference standards are lacking. In such cases, the confidence level in compound identification can be significantly improved by the collection of orthogonal information on target analytes.

The demand for food-grade β-mannanases, ideal for high-temperature baking, is increasing. Using the () expression system for β-mannanase production, this study aimed to enhance purification methods. We evaluated better conditions for production and purification of β-mannanase (Man134A) from recombinant X-33, focusing on a higher purity and reducing the production of endogenous secretory proteins in fermentation.
