Pathophysiological and clinical aspects of endothelial dysfunction in patients with degenerative aortic valve stenosis are considered with special reference to the markers of anticoagulative, fibrinolytic, proliferative, anti-inflammatory functions of endothelium and their pathogenetic role in vascular and valvular remodeling. Results of analysis of certain clinical studies with the use of determinants of endothelial dysfunction are presented for the assessment of clinical prognosis in patients with degenerative aortic valve stenosis.

Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to ankylosis of the axial skeleton. Celecoxib (cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, COX-2i) inhibited radiographic progression in a clinical study of SpA, but in the following study, diclofenac (COX-2 non-selective) failed to show that inhibition. Background: Minimally invasive cardiac surgery for mitral regurgitation is challenging in patients with narrow chests due to limited thoracic space.
