The breast is appreciated aesthetically and clinically for its shape, projection, and volume. Surgical techniques have evolved to manipulate the breast skin envelope, soft tissues, and chest wall anatomy, with and without prosthetic devices. The pectoralis major specifically is altered for pocket dissection and implant coverage. Both the aesthetic and reconstructive surgeons are aware of its relationship to the chest wall and the breast soft tissues. Both are able to achieve outstanding outcomes; however, the authors present an alternative appreciation of the pectoralis and its relationship to the breast.

Objective: This retrospective cohort study aims to compare donor site morbidity of three commonly used upper extremity flaps used in head and neck reconstructive surgery: scapular tip free flap (STFF), radial forearm free flap (RFFF), and pectoralis major pedicled flap (PMPF).
Methods: The billing database of an urban, academic, tertiary otolaryngology practice was queried to identify patients who underwent STFF, RFFF, and PMPF from 2020 to 2023. The primary outcome was identification of donor site pain and need for physical therapy (PT) referral after undergoing reconstruction.

Purpose: Poland syndrome is a congenital malformation characterized by agenesis or hypoplasia of pectoralis muscles. There is a limited literature on how the anatomic anomalies of PS may impact the movement of the shoulder. This study analyzes the effects of absence of the pectoralis muscles on the shoulder kinematic.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) causes considerable morbidity and mortality rates, posing a major global health burden. The management of the OSCC is multidisciplinary, but still the gold standard is surgical resection and reconstruction of the postablative defect. The appearance of secondary primary OSCC is not uncommon; however, it is quite rare that it appears on the skin of the flap that was used for reconstruction during the previous surgical therapy.

Purpose: To examine the acute effects of forehand drive (FD) preconditioning with or without blood-flow restriction (BFR) on subsequent forehand performance and muscle recruitment in tennis.
Methods: On separate visits, 12 well-trained tennis players participated in 4 randomized trials. Each visit included pretests (maximal muscle-activation capacity or FD performance), a preconditioning phase, and posttests after 5 minutes of rest (ie, similar to pretests).

Background: The restriction of active internal rotation (IR) after reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) poses a challenging problem for reconstructive shoulder surgeons, particularly in patients suffering from massive rotator cuff tears (mRCT) with subscapularis (SSC) deficiency. This study aims to evaluate the biomechanical effectiveness of different tendon transfer techniques following medialized glenoid and lateralized humerus RSA in improving internal rotation (IR) strength.
Methods: Eight cadaveric shoulder specimens were evaluated using a custom shoulder testing system designed to simulate loading conditions typical of mRCT with SSC insufficiency.
