A red block-shaped crystal of the title compound, [Co(HCOO)2(C12H10N4)2] n , was obtained by the reaction of cobalt(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate, formic acid and 1,1'-(1,4-phenyl-ene)bis-(1H-imidazole) (bib) mol-ecules. The asymmetric unit consists of one Co(II) cation, one formate ligand and two halves of a bib ligand. The central Co(II) cation, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms and four N atoms from bib ligands, completing an octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Co(II) centres are bridged by bib ligands, giving a two-dimensional net. Topologically, taking the Co(II) atoms as nodes and the bib ligands as linkers, the two-dimensional structure can be simplified as a typical sql/Shubnikov tetra-gonal plane network. The structure features C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between formate and bib ligands, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Guest transport through discrete voids (closed pores) in crystalline solids is poorly understood. Herein, we report the gas sorption properties of a nonporous coordination network, [Co(bib)2Cl2]n·2MeOH (sql-bib-Co-Cl-α), featuring square lattice (sql) topology and the bent linker 1,3-bis(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene (bib). The as-synthesized sql-bib-Co-Cl-α has 11.

Monitoring biomarker levels in body fluids is of great importance in clinical diagnosis. Herein, a robust 3D ZnMOF, {[Zn(BTPB)(bib)(μ-OH)]·2HO}, was fabricated based on the ligands of 1,4-bis(2,4,6-tricarboxylpyrid-5-yl)benzene (HBTPB) and 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)benzene (bib). On the basis of its stable architecture and intrinsic luminescence, ZnMOF demonstrated remarkable potential as a bifunctional luminescent sensor for selective and sensitive detecting the biomarkers of 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) in water and body fluids by employing distinct "turn-off" and "turn-on" responses.

The rapid detection of biomarkers in bodily fluids is vital for clinical diagnosis and regular disease monitoring. In this work, a mixed-ligand strategy was employed to successfully construct a nickel(II) metal-organic framework ([Ni(HTPTC)(bib)(HO)], NiMOF). Outstanding thermal and chemical stabilities coupled with the favorable luminescent performances endow NiMOF significant potential as an ideal bifunctional luminescence sensor with high selectivity and sensitivity, exceptional anti-interferences and recyclable performances, as well as low LODs for detecting 3-NT biomarker through "turn-off" luminescence quenching effects and HA biomarker through "turn-on" luminescence enhancement effects.

Carbon emission reduction is an important measure to mitigate the greenhouse effect, which has become a hotspot in global climate change research. To contribute to this, here, we fabricated two Co-based metal-organic frameworks (Co-MOFs), namely, {[Co(NTB)(bib)]·(DMA)·(HO)} (DZU-211) and {[Co(NTB)(bmip)]·(DMA)} (DZU-212) (HNTB = 4,4',4″-nitrilotribenzoic acid, bib = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)-butane, bmip = 1,3-bis(2-methyl-1-imidazol-1-yl)propane) to realize efficient CO/N separation by dividing coordination spaces into suitable pores with narrow windows. DZU-211 reveals a 3D open porous framework, while DZU-212 exhibits a 3D double-fold interpenetrated structure.

As the use of antibiotics increases, the increasing resistance of bacteria is the main reason for the reduced efficiency of antibacterial drugs, making the research of new antibacterial materials become new hot spot. In this article, two novel coordination polymers (CPs), namely, [Cd(L)(bibp)] (1) and [Ni(L)(bib)] (2), where HL = ,'-bis(4-carbozvlbenzvl)-4-aminotoluene, bibp = 4,4'-bis(imidazol-1-yl)biphenyl, and bib = 1,3-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene, have been synthesized under solvothermal and hydrothermal condition. Structural clarification was performed through infrared spectrum and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, while thermal analysis and XRD technology were used for the performance assessment of compounds and .
