Background: Serial sampling in discovery rat PK studies could be performed via capillary microsampling (CMS) of blood or by using the Mitra™ device to collect dried blood samples.
Results: Blood CMS results were compared with Mitra sampling results for four test compounds dosed in rat PK studies. The PK profiles obtained from CMS sampling were found to be very similar to those obtained from the Mitra sampling. For 15-µl blood CMS samples, freezing before the dilution step was found to be acceptable.
Conclusion: Blood CMS using 15-µl glass capillary microsamples works well for serial blood sampling in rat PK studies. The Mitra microsampling device provides an alternative method for collecting 10 µl of blood as a dried blood sample.

Seaweeds have been utilized as food, fodder, fertilizer, and medicine since ancient times; nevertheless, they have received only a little attention. In the current work, we extracted the sulfated polysaccharide from a marine source and investigated its anti-arthritic potential . The isolated and freeze-dried polysaccharide was tested for acute oral toxicity based on OECD 423.

The family has seen an explosive expansion in its host range in recent years, yet the evolutionary trajectory of this zoonotic pathogen remains largely unknown. The emergence of rat hepatitis E virus (HEV) has introduced a new public health threat due to its potential for zoonotic transmission. This study investigated 2 464 wild small mammals spanning four animal orders, eight families, 21 genera, and 37 species in Yunnan Province, China.

For operant self-administration, permanent intravenous cannulas need to remain open and operational for months without infections or blockages. Here, we report retrospectively on our experiences and observations using different access systems during three studies. We identified a refined method for vena jugularis cannulation that is a vast improvement for the animals, biotechnicians and researchers.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by synovial inflammation and progressive joint destruction. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), a microreticular structure formed after neutrophil death, have recently been implicated in RA pathogenesis and pathological mechanisms. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms and key genes involved in NET formation in RA remain largely unknown.

Introduction: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by inflammation and ulceration of the digestive tract.
Methods: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with a novel photosensitizer LD was used to treat UC rat models to explore the therapeutic effect and mechanism of LD-PDT on UC. 16S ribosomal RNA was used to detect the composition of Gut microbiota.
