We present the first fundamental simulation method for the determination of crater morphology due to femtosecond-pulse laser damage. To this end we have adapted the particle-in-cell (PIC) method commonly used in plasma physics for use in the study of laser damage and developed the first implementation of a pair potential for PIC codes. We find that the PIC method is a complementary approach to modeling laser damage, bridging the gap between fully ab-initio molecular dynamics approaches and empirical models. We demonstrate our method by modeling a femtosecond-pulse laser incident on a flat copper slab for a range of intensities.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), particularly the deep-seated tumor where surgical removal is not feasible, poses great challenges for clinical treatments due to complicated biological barriers and the risk of damaging healthy brain tissue. Here, we hierarchically engineer a self-adaptive nanoplatform (SAN) that overcomes delivery barriers by dynamically adjusting its structure, surface charge, particle size, and targeting moieties to precisely distinguish between tumor and parenchyma cells. We further devise a AN-uided ntuitive and recision ntervention (SGIPi) strategy which obviates the need for sophisticated facilities, skilled operations, and real-time magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidance required by current MRI-guided laser or ultrasound interventions.

Utilizing UAV and orthophoto data with bathymetric LiDAR in google earth engine for coastal cliff degradation assessment.

This study introduces a novel methodology for estimating and analysing coastal cliff degradation, using machine learning and remote sensing data. Degradation refers to both natural abrasive processes and damage to coastal reinforcement structures caused by natural events. We utilized orthophotos and LiDAR data in green and near-infrared wavelengths to identify zones impacted by storms and extreme weather events that initiated mass movement processes.

Current treatments for retinal disorders are anti-angiogenic agents, laser photocoagulation, and photodynamic therapies. These conventional treatments focus on reducing abnormal blood vessel formation in the retina, which, in a low-oxygen environment, can lead to harmful proliferation of endothelial cells. This results in dysfunctional, leaky blood vessels that cause retinal edema, hemorrhage, and vision loss.

This paper presents a multiscale computational model, 'micro-to-meso-to-macro', to simulate polydopamine coated gold nanoparticles (AuNP@PDA) for assisted tumor photothermal therapy (PTT). The optical properties, mainly refractive index, of the PDA unit molecules are calculated using the density functional theory (DFT) method in this multiscale model. Subsequently, the thermodynamic properties, including thermal conductivity and heat capacity, of the PDA cells and AuNP@PDA particles are calculated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation.

Owing to the excellent stability, anticancer activity and immunogenicity, peroxynitrite (ONOO) has been gained enormous interests in cancer therapy. Nevertheless, precise delivery and control release of ONOO in tumors remains a big challenge. Herein, B16F10 cancer cell membrane/liposome hybrid membrane (CM-Lip) based biomimetic nanodrug with high-efficient tumor-homing and NIR-II laser controlled ONOO boost properties was designed for melanoma treatment.
