Haemoglobin D is a rare form of haemoglobinopathy in homozygous form. However, the heterozygous form of the disease is clinically silent and relatively easier to find in North-West India, Pakistan and Iran. Haemoglobin D is sometimes found to be coexistent with Haemoglobin S and/or Thalassaemia leading to clinically significant conditions like sickle cell anaemia with mild to moderate splenomegaly. In India the more prevalent form is Haemoglobin D-Punjab (also known as Hb D- Los Angeles) which has a prevalence of 2% in Punjab and around 1% in Gujarat. However, the variant, Haemoglobin D- Iran is very rare in India in heterozygous as well as homozygous forms. This report is of a 36-year-old female, who visited for an antenatal check up. On analysing the blood sample using Agarose Gel Electrophoresis in Alkaline media, the migration of abnormal haemoglobin to haemoglobin S/D/G region was observed. Sickle cell solubility test was negative. On capillary electrophoresis, peak in the Haemoglobin D Zone was seen.

Blood storage lesion induces cytosolic and membrane changes driven in part by hemoglobin (Hb) oxidation reactions within red blood cells (RBCs). A novel gel formulation containing the antioxidant curcuminoids in a biocompatible solvent system was used to deliver curcumin into RBCs. Incubation of peroxide treated RBCs stored in PBS with curcumin gel led to a reduction in prooxidant ferrylHb and recovery in ATP.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of two styles of classical music, based on different tempos (BPM), on the physiological and blood parameters of horses during social isolation and restriction of movements. First experiment was carried out using nine horses of no defined breed, distributed in Control, Slow-tempo music and Moderate-tempo music .For social isolation and restriction of movement, the animals were housed daily in individual stalls for two hours and exposed to the stimuli for 60 min, and eye temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate were assessed.

Background: Globally, iron deficiency anaemia is a widespread public health problem affecting vulnerable populations including adolescents. However, over the years, the Uganda Demographic Health Surveys mostly report the status of anaemia for women of reproductive age (15-49 years) and children up to 5 years, leaving out the focus on adolescents. Moreover, high prevalence of anaemia among children below five years could suggest that anaemia still persists at adolescence.

Background: Experimental and clinical studies have suggested that symbiotics might effectively manage type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by modulating the intestinal microbiota. However, these studies' limited sources, small sample sizes, and varied study designs have led to inconsistent outcomes regarding glycaemic control. This study aimed to investigate the effects of symbiotics on the anthropometric measures, glycaemic control, and lipid profiles of patients with T2DM.
