Choledochal cysts (CCs) are rare cystic dilations of the intrahepatic and/or extrahepatic bile ducts. Malignancies arising during follow-up after excision of CCs have been reported in both children and adults, with no typical time frame for malignancy development. We present a case of a patient diagnosed with CCs 36 years ago, who underwent resection and subsequently developed cancer.

Latent time series models such as (the independent sum of) ARMA(, ) models with additional stochastic processes are increasingly used for data analysis in biology, ecology, engineering, and economics. Inference on and/or prediction from these models can be highly challenging: (i) the data may contain outliers that can adversely affect the estimation procedure; (ii) the computational complexity can become prohibitive when the time series are extremely large; (iii) model selection adds another layer of (computational) complexity; and (iv) solutions that address (i), (ii), and (iii) simultaneously do not exist in practice. This paper aims at jointly addressing these challenges by proposing a general framework for robust two-step estimation based on a bounded influence M-estimator of the wavelet variance.

Background: Non-traumatic emergency abdominal surgeries are common in most healthcare settings. To a significant extent, the outcomes of treatment are determined by the promptness of surgical interventions. However, the in-hospital waiting time which reflects perioperative promptness remains largely unexplored in developing countries.

Individuals can strongly vary in their ability to process face identity. Understanding the mechanisms driving these differences is important for theoretical development, and in clinical and applied contexts. Here we investigate the role of face-space properties in relation to individual face identity processing skills.

However, the mechanisms underlying the influence of fertilizer application on weathering remain poorly understood, especially with respect to bacterial intervention.
Methods: In this study, purple parent rocks from Shaximiao Group (Js) and Penglaizhen Group (Jp) were selected to investigate the effects of fertilizer application on the bacterial community and weathering characteristics of these rock by leaching experiment.
