An analysis of roentgenograms of 50 patients with a respiratory distress-syndrome has shown that roentgenosemiotics of this complication discloses alterations of permeability of pulmonary and bronchial capillaries, drainage of liquid from the interstice and alveoli, hemodynamics in the microcirculation link of the lesser circulation circle. A classification of the respiratory distress-syndrome is proposed which includes 3 stages and a period of involution of the process.

Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has emerged as a critical intervention in the management of patients with trauma-induced cardiorespiratory failure. This study aims to compare outcomes in patients with severe thoracic injuries with and without venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO).
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study on Trauma Quality Improvement Program (2017-2021) and included all patients with isolated blunt thoracic injuries with Abbreviated Injury Scale score of ≥4 who required intubation.

Introduction: Up to 20% of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which is associated with increased odds of mortality. Guideline-based treatment for ARDS includes "lung protective" ventilation strategies, some of which are in opposition to "brain protective" strategies used for ventilation with patients with TBI. We conducted a scoping review of ventilation management strategies with clinical outcomes among patients with TBI and ARDS.

Pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus undergoing glucocorticoid treatment to prevent neonatal respiratory distress syndrome could have increased glucose level. We performed a retrospective study and reviewed gestational diabetic women who received an intramuscular dexamethasone injection (6 mg, every 12 hours, 4 times) in our hospital between December 2018 and June 2020. Eligible pregnant women were assigned to the study group (with simultaneous subcutaneous insulin detemir injection, 2-4 units per day) or the control group (without insulin detemir injection).
