Two groups of teeth, one of which contained teeth of known age, were examined by scanning electron microscopy to ascertain the presence of a potential pathway for leakage at the root ends of apicected teeth. At a point approximately 3 mm from the apex, a level chosen as being typical for apicectomy, and half-way between the root canal and the dentine-cementum junction, there were found to be, on average, 27,000 tubules per mm2. Older teeth also displayed large numbers of tubules. Close to the dentine-cementum junction, an area which may communicate with the root canal even in the presence of a retrograde root filling, an average of 13,000 tubules per mm2 were found.

As an important starch crop, sweet potato has significant practical importance for maintaining food security worldwide. This study identified differential expressed genes associated with the expansion of tuberous roots by comparing the transcriptome across tuberous roots at the initial period (initiated tuberous roots (ITRs), rapid expansion period (tuberous roots (TRs), fibrous roots (FRs) at the seedling stage, and fibrous roots at the adult stage (unexpanded FRs (UFRs)). sRNA-seq and degradome analyses were performed to reveal the role of miRNAs in tuberous root development in sweet potato.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the marginal adaptation of a cold ceramic (CC) sealer with the single-cone obturation technique with that of an AH-26 sealer with the lateral compaction technique in single-canal teeth.
Materials And Methods: In this in vitro experimental study, the root canals of 24 extracted single-rooted single-canal teeth were instrumented to F3 files by the crown-down technique and randomly assigned to 2 groups (n = 12). The root canals were obturated with a CC sealer and single-cone obturation technique with 4% gutta-percha in group 1 and with an AH-26 sealer and lateral compaction technique with 2% gutta-percha in group 2.

Hearing loss is highly related to acoustic injuries and mechanical damage of ear tissues. The mechanical responses of ear tissues are difficult to measure experimentally, especially cochlear hair cells within the organ of Corti (OC) at microscale. Finite element (FE) modeling has become an important tool for simulating acoustic wave transmission and studying cochlear mechanics.

Bacteria and ectomycorrhizal fungi (EcMF) represent two of the most dominant plant root-associated microbial groups on Earth, and their interactions continue to gain recognition as significant factors that shape forest health and resilience. Yet, we currently lack a focused review that explains the state of bacteria-EcMF interaction research in the context of experimental approaches and technological advancements. To these ends, we illustrate the utility of studying bacteria-EcMF interactions, detail outstanding questions, outline research priorities in the field, and provide a suite of approaches that can be used to promote experimental reproducibility, field advancement, and collaboration.

Potato vigour, the growth potential of seed potatoes, is a key agronomic trait that varies significantly across production fields due to factors such as genetic background and environmental conditions. Seed tuber microbiomes are thought to influence plant health and crop performance, yet the precise relationships between microbiome composition and potato vigour remain unclear. Here we conducted microbiome sequencing on seed tuber eyes and heel ends from 6 potato varieties grown in 240 fields.
