Synovial tumors comprise a variety of lesions, including those with benign and aggressive neoplastic changes as well as inflammatory causes. In this article we focus on neoplastic tumors. Synovial tumors with other etiologies, such as sarcoidosis, granuloma, synovitis, or gouty arthritis, are not dealt with here. Through a precise differentiation between these disease entities can an optimization of treatment be achieved.

Elbow synovial cysts are rare and can mimic more frequently encountered disorders such as lateral epicondylitis, presenting diagnostic challenges. This report describes a woman in her mid-40s with persistent pain and weakness in her right forearm due to a synovial cyst compressing the radial nerve at the Arcade of Frohse. Despite initial suspicions of lateral epicondylitis, deeper investigation using sonography confirmed the presence of a compressive synovial cyst.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is increasingly recognized as a whole-organ disease predominantly affecting the elderly, characterized by typical alterations in subchondral bone and cartilage, along with recurrent synovial inflammation. Despite the availability of various therapeutics and medications, a complete resolution of OA remains elusive. In this study, novel functional hydrogels are developed by integrating natural bioactive molecules for OA treatment.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic disease that primarily manifests as chronic synovitis of the symmetric small joints. Despite the availability of various targeted drugs for RA, these treatments are limited by adverse reactions, warranting new treatment approaches. Suberosin (SBR), isolated from Plumbago zeylanica-a medicinal plant traditionally used to treat RA in Asia-possesses notable biological activities.

Ethnopharmacological Relevancy: Danggui Niantong Decoction (DGNTD) is a traditional Chinese medicine compound formula that has been demonstrated to possess efficacy in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA), as well as for dispelling moisture and relieving pain. As mentioned before, DGNTD is essential for synovial inflammation in RA. The primary features of the OA synovial membrane are low-grade inflammation, hyperplasia with enhanced fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) proliferation, and fibrosis, which can cause pain and stiffness.
