Amniotic membrane sweeping or stripping is a safe and effective method of labor induction supported by national obstetrical organizations. While its use dates back to antiquity by both midwives and physicians there are still areas that need further research to define its role in induction of labor. A review of the literature reveals that amniotic membrane sweeping is a safe, effective, and inexpensive method of labor induction. It can be done in the outpatient setting with minimal risks so long as it is avoided in patients with contraindications. Amniotic membrane sweeping can be performed in Group B Streptococcus-positive women with studies showing no increase in untoward outcomes. However, there is no data in women infected with HIV or hepatitis.

Cesarean section (CS) is highly prevalent surgery among females. However, current absorbable anti-adhesion membranes used clinically can partially prevent postoperative adhesions but show limited efficacy in tissue regeneration, leaving post-cesarean women at risk for severe complications including cesarean scar pregnancy, placenta previa, and uterine rupture. Herein, we designed a fully amniotic membrane (AM)-derived biomimetic nanostructural materials (AM-BNMs) as an anti-adhesion barrier, and validated its therapeutic efficacy in a rat CS model.

Introduction And Importance: Conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most advanced form of ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN), with varying incidence rates influenced by factors such as age, UV exposure, and occupation. Early detection is crucial, but misdiagnosis is common, especially when SCC mimics benign conditions like pterygium.

Case Presentation: An 83-year-old Caucasian male farmer presented with a rapidly enlarging nasal limbal lesion, initially misdiagnosed as pterygium.

We Should Perform a Systematic Evaluation of the Placenta.

Despite its critical importance, the placenta receives substantially less attention during obstetric ultrasound examinations compared to the fetus. The evaluation of the placenta is typically limited to determining its location within the uterus, particularly its relationship to the cervix. Abnormal placenta findings are the result of gross anomalies identified by chance during obstetric examinations, rather than from a systematic evaluation.

Our objective was to compare clinical outcomes in diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) treated with AmnioExcel applied weekly (AMX1) or biweekly (AMX2) over a 12-week evaluation period. This randomized clinical trial evaluated 40 people with UT 1A and 1D DFUs >30 days but less than 6 months duration and age >21 years. We excluded patients with untreated osteomyelitis, gangrene, widespread malignancy, or active substance abuse.

Background: Dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane (dHACM) has shown potential in enhancing neurovascular recovery and functional outcomes in robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).

Aim: To evaluate the effects of dHACM on continence recovery, sexual function, and oncological outcomes in patients undergoing RARP.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA guidelines, analyzing data from PubMed, Cochrane, and EMBASE.
