A composite constituted by carbon nanopipes (CNPs) and polyaniline nanofibers (PANi NFs) is synthesized using in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization. Owing to its electrochemical activity the composite is found to be suitable as a working electrode material in hybrid type supercapacitors. Microstructural and phase analyses of the composite showed that (i) CNP surfaces are coated with PANi and (ii) PANi coated CNPs are distributed among PANi NFs. The composite shows an excellent electrochemical activity and a high specific capacitance of ~224.39 F/g. The electro-chemical activity of the composite is explicated in correlation with crystallinity, intrinsic oxidation state, and doping degree of PANi in the composite. The electro-chemical activity of the composite is also explicated in correlation with BET surface area and ordered meso-porosity pertaining to the composite. Charge/discharge curves indicate that the specific capacitance of the composite is a result of electric double-layer capacitance offered by CNPs and Faradaic pseudo capacitance offered by PANi NFs.

Electronic skin (e-skin) inspired by the sensory function of the skin demonstrates broad application prospects in health, medicine, and human-machine interaction. Herein, we developed a self-powered all-fiber bio-inspired e-skin (AFBI E-skin) that integrated functions of antifouling, antibacterial, biocompatibility and breathability. AFBI E-skin was composed of three layers of electrospun nanofibrous films.

In the present work, a new kind of nanocomposite (NC)-based solid component was prepared for formulating nanofluids (NFs). The NC comprised metal oxide (titanium dioxide, TiO) dispersed in a conducting polymer with polyaniline (PANI) and chemically linked silyl-alkyl units in it (PSA) that were designated as T-PSA NC. The NFs with ethylene glycol (EG) as a base fluid were prepared with T-PSA NCs with various compositions of TiO and PSA as well for various concentrations of T-PSA NCs.

Enhancement of the photocatalytic activity of black phosphorus (BP) is a highly challenging proposition. The fabrication of electrospun composite nanofibers (NFs) through the incorporation of modified BP nanosheets (BPNs) into conductive polymeric NFs has been recently introduced as a newer strategy not only to enhance the photocatalytic activity of BPNs but also to overcome their drawbacks including ambient instability, aggregation, and hard recycling, which exist in their nanoscale powdered forms. The proposed composite NFs were prepared through the incorporation of silver (Ag)-modified BPNs, gold (Au)-modified BPNs, and graphene oxide (GO)-modified BPNs into polyaniline/polyacrylonitrile (PANi/PAN) NFs by an electrospinning process.

In recent decades, studies have focused on inorganic nanozymes to overcome the intrinsic drawbacks of bioenzymes due to the demands of improving the reaction conditions and lack of robustness to harsh environmental factors. Many biochemical reactions catalyzed by enzymes require light activation. Light-activated nanozymes have distinct advantages, including being regulated by light stimuli, activating the molecular oxygen to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) without interfering supplementary oxidants, and often showing a synergistic effect to catalyze some challenging reactions.

A novel potentiometric solid contact (SC) sensor was developed to determine the anticancer drug gefitinib by employing a polyaniline nanofibers/carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotube (PANI-NFs/c-MWCNT) nano-composite as an ion to electron transducer. The FDA approved gefitinib as the first line treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that represents 90% of lung carcinomas. The PANI-NFs/C-MWCNT nano-composite was synthesized and characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
