The effect of in vivo laser irradiation by optical radiation on blood from different patients is studied. The objects of research were three series of blood samples from patients whose treatment course included extracorporeal UV blood irradiation, intravenous laser blood irradiation and supra-venous blood laser irradiation. Before and after irradiation the results on optic oximetry and gas content of venous blood were compared. The results of positive and negative influence of blood irradiation on characteristics of an oxygen exchange in separate patients and on the maintenance of some products of metabolism are represented. It is shown that at the same power dose, their changes depend on individual, initial values of hemoglobin oxygen saturation of venous blood and its photoinduced changes which objectively reflect individual sensitivity of patients to the action of optical radiation on blood and can be used for assessment of the efficiency of phototherapy.

Purpose: To retrospectively evaluate the efficacy of plaque brachytherapy for the treatment of retinoblastoma.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of 163 patients (186 eyes, 333 tumors) treated with brachytherapy (Ru or Sr plaques) for intraocular retinoblastoma between November 2007 and August 2023.
Results: Complete tumor control was achieved in 273 tumors (82%).

Background: Nitroxyl (HNO) is an emerging signaling molecule that plays a significant regulatory role in various aspects of plant biology, including stress responses and developmental processes. However, understanding the precise actions of HNO in plants has been challenging due to the absence of highly sensitive and real-time in situ monitoring tools. Consequently, it is crucial to develop effective and accurate detection methods for HNO.

Within the scope of this study, a polymer-based optical sensor that can polymerize under UV radiation and produce fluorescence when suitable functional monomers and crosslinkers were prepared for aluminum determination in yogurt, soybean flour, and meat samples. Parameters such as operating range, pH, sensitivity, selectivity, determination limit, and foreign ion effect were thoroughly investigated to validate the developed method and characterize this polymer-based membrane. The designed sensor has wavelengths of 322 nm for fluorescence excitation and 356 nm for emission, respectively.

Background: With the aging of the population, the deterioration of visual and auditory functions amongst the elderly has attracted much attention. Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are common eye and ear diseases that seriously affect the quality of life of elderly population.
Methods: This study utilised a whole cohort sampling method, with a total of 713 participants aged 50 years and older in the community from June 2022 to October 2023, resulting in the inclusion of 620 participants.

Axions, hypothetical elementary particles that remain undetectable in nature, can arise as quasiparticles in three-dimensional crystals known as axion insulators. Previous implementations of axion insulators have largely been limited to two-dimensional systems, leaving their topological properties in three dimensions unexplored in experiment. Here, we realize an axion insulator in a three-dimensional photonic crystal and probe its topological properties.
