Autophagy, a cellular degradation process involving the formation and clearance of autophagosomes, is mediated by autophagic proteins, such as microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3) and sequestosome 1 (p62), and modulated by 3-methyladenine (3-MA) as well as chloroquine (CQ). Senescence, characterised by permanent cell cycle arrest, is marked by proteins such as cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1 (p21) and tumour protein 53 (p53). This study aims to investigate the relationship between cell senescence and renal function in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and the effect of autophagy on high-glucose-induced cell senescence.

Introduction: Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) can severely affect the urinary tract, leading to strictures and urine outflow obstruction, which pose significant risks to kidney function. Procedures involving the urinary mucosa often exacerbate these issues, making safe bladder emptying a major challenge. This study reviews surgical methods for managing urological complications in EB patients, with a focus on the Macedo procedure, which offers a promising alternative that avoids further bladder mucosa irritation and prevents disease exacerbation.

Background: Postoperative spinal epidural hematoma (SEH) is a rare but serious complication following lumbar surgery, with cauda equina syndrome (CES) being one of its most devastating outcomes. While CES typically presents with a combination of bladder and/or bowel dysfunction, diminished sensation in the saddle area, and motor or sensory changes in the lower limbs, atypical cases with isolated urinary symptoms are less recognized and pose significant diagnostic challenges.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a 46-year-old male who developed CES following lumbar microdiscectomy, presenting solely with urinary retention, without the classic signs of lower limb weakness or perineal sensory loss.

Purpose: While pump manipulation is rarely problematic in male patients with artificial urinary sphincters (AUSs), the situation may differ in female patients due to anatomical or cultural factors. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of difficulties in pump manipulation among female AUS patients, identify associated risk factors, and explore management strategies for this challenging issue.
Methods: Data were collected from all female patients who underwent a robotic AUS implantation at a single academic center between 2014 and 2022.

This study developed an animal model with internal and external urethral sphincter insufficiency by bypassing the sphincter without major damage so that the animal under study can return to normal life after the study. There is a need for a reliable, applicable, and reproducible animal model for studying urinary incontinency disease due to incorrect sphincter function. Seven adult male dogs were used for this study.
