Stress fractures of the symphysis pubis are usually due to bone insufficiency. After describing two cases which caused diagnostic difficulties, the authors relate how these fractures may simulate tumor with deceptive bone destruction. The existence of predisposing factors, namely post-menopausal osteoporosis and a history of pelvic radiation therapy, together with the radiological characteristics associating bone destruction with peripheral sclerosis suggest the diagnostic. Awareness of this pathology may avoid unnecessary biopsies which can cause delay in bone consolidation.

Objectives: To describe the functional outcomes, complications, and reconstruction types in patients with periacetabular metastases and to propose an extension of the Harrington classification.
Methods: Twenty-eight patients (13 males, 15 females) with a mean age of 63.8 ± 15.

Background: Circadian rhythm disruption (CRD) affects the expression levels of a range of biological clock genes, such as brain and muscle ARNT-Like-1 (BMAL1), which is considered to be an important factor in triggering or exacerbating inflammatory response. However, the underlying effect of CRD on the pathogenesis of apical periodontitis, a common oral inflammatory disease, currently remains unknown. Exploring the effects and pathogenic mechanisms of CRD on apical periodontitis will be beneficial in providing new ideas for the prevention and treatment of apical periodontitis.

This study introduces a novel anchor-type proximal femoral nail (AT-PFN) to improve the bone-fixation integrity over the standard screw-type nail (SST-PFN). Quasi-static incremental cyclic load test was performed to investigate load-displacement, cumulative deformation energy, time-strain, and backbone curves. The finite element analysis (FEA) was implemented to identify the stress and strain distributions.

Objective: Aberrant 6-phosphofructo-2kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphoshatase 3 (PFKFB3) expression is tightly correlated with multiple steps of tumorigenesis; however, the pathological significance of PFKFB3 in macrophages in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remains obscure. In this study, we examined whether PFKFB3 modulates macrophage activation and promotes RA development.
Method: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with RA, THP-1 cells, and bone marrow-derived macrophages from conditional PFKFB3-knockout mice were used to investigate the mechanism underlying PFKFB3-induced macrophage regulation of RA.

With the rapid increase in the number of implant operations, the incidence of bone infections has increased. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and other emerging fully drug-resistant strains make the management of bone infections even more challenging.
