Background: Ovulation induction (OI) in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) remains challenging, and several biomarkers have been evaluated for their ability to predict ovulation. The predictive ability of candidate biomarkers, particularly with letrozole-based therapy in infertile PCOS women, remains inconclusive as it is yet to be evaluated in a prospective study.

Aim: To assess the role of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH)/FSH ratio, testosterone and free androgen index (FAI) as predictors of ovarian response to letrozole-based OI therapy during OI cycles in infertile women with PCOS from North India.

Circulating lipocalin-2 across the adult lifespan.

JBMR Plus

February 2025

Institute for Health and Sport, Victoria University, Melbourne, VIC 3011, Australia.

Lipocalin-2 (LCN2), a hormone produced by adipocytes, osteoblasts, and renal tubular cells, is implicated in age-related diseases, including cardio-metabolic disease. To understand the role LCN2 may play in pathological states, we first need to elucidate the relationship between circulating LCN2 with indices of cardio-metabolic health during "normal" aging. This study examined the relationship between serum levels of LCN2, age, and cardio-metabolic measures across the adult lifespan in males and females.

Rapid luminescence-based screening method for SARS- CoV-2 inhibitors discovery.

SLAS Discov

The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the necessity for rapid and adaptable drug screening platforms against live pathogenic viruses that require high levels of biosafety containment. Conventional antiviral testing is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Here, we outline the design and validation of a semi-automated drug-screening platform for SARS-CoV-2 that utilizes multiple liquid handlers, a stable A549 cell line expressing ACE2 and TMPRSS2 receptors, and a recombinant SARS-CoV-2 strain harboring the nano-luciferase gene.

Two versatile yet simple methods, colorimetric and spectrofluorimetric, were utilized for the quantitation of nonchromophore neomycin using silver nanoparticles modified with fluorescein. Fluorescein was excited at 485 nm (emission at 515 nm); when it is deposited on the surface of silver nanoparticles, its fluorescence intensity at 515 nm is quenched. Neomycin restores the fluorescence level at 515 nm by displacing fluorescein from nanoparticle binding sites.
