Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate hearing and outer cells function in patients with psoriatic arthritis. Our investigation was a prospective case control study.
Methods: A total of 31 psoriatic arthritis patients (62 ears) and 31 healthy control subjects (62 ears) were enrolled in the study. We investigated hearing changes of patients and controls via pure tone audiometry, speech discrimination scores, tympanometry, acoustic reflex, and transient product otoacoustic emission.
Results: The mean age of psoriatic arthritis patients was 36.1±8.5 years (range, 14 to 62 years). The average age of the control group was 37.9±8.1 years (range, 16 to 62 years). There were statistically significant differences between pure tone audiometry in all frequencies and right and left emission at the 4.0 and 1.0 in psoriatic arthritis patients versus controls (P<0.05). This difference was evident, especially at high frequencies. There was no statistically significant difference between the ages and genders of the patient and control groups (P>0.05). Both audiological and otoacoustic emissions were not significantly different between right and left ear (P>0.05).
Conclusion: Based on the audiological and otoacoustic findings; it is likely that the cochlear outer hair cells become subtly damaged in psoriatic arthritis patients, consequently leading to changes in hearing thresholds. These data suggest that it is important to screen psoriatic arthritis patients for hearing changes with otoacoustic emissions and audiologic tests regularly.

Introduction: The relationship between the phenotype and treatment of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and the increased prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities is not well studied.
Objective: To assess the prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities in relation to the clinical phenotype and treatment of PsA.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional, real-life study.

Autoimmune enteritis (AIE) is a rare inflammatory condition with intractable diarrhea and malnutrition. Most cases are diagnosed during infancy, but rare adult-onset cases can occur. We present a male patient in his 60s with a history of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis on etanercept who developed refractory and intractable diarrhea and malnutrition.

Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) has been associated with weight reduction and obesity complications improvement. However, there is no clear evidence of the extent and consistency of the effects of this procedure on rheumatic diseases. This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis to address the impact of MBS on rheumatic diseases.

Patients suffering from psoriatic arthritis (PsA) often experience depression due to chronic joint pain, which significantly hinders their recovery process. However, the relationship between these two conditions is not well understood. Through a review of existing studies, we revealed that certain neuroendocrine hormones and neurotransmitters are involved in the neuroimmune interactions related to both PsA and depression.

Purpose: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and psoriasis (Pso) are highly heterogeneous inflammatory diseases. Multidisciplinary approaches are associated with improved results in both musculoskeletal (MSK) and skin manifestations. We describe the experience and main diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes of one of the largest and longest-running Rheumatology/Dermatology multidisciplinary PsA Clinic.
