Objective: A central premise in deployment of community health workers (CHW) is that CHWs share key characteristics with their patients. We sought to develop a scale to measure this construct called the Perceived Navigator Similarity (PNS) questionnaire.

Methods: We adopted items from a similarly developed scale, patient perceived similarity to their physicians, and examined its psychometric properties among 51 patients who were navigated for cancer care by a CHW.

Results: Principal component analysis revealed two main factors: personal and ethnic. The scale was associated with greater satisfaction with navigation (p < 0.005) and cancer care (p < 0.05).

Conclusion: The PNS shows promise for further validation in larger samples assessing navigator-patient similarity from the patient perspective.

Introduction: Functioning is the reason to be of rehabilitation as it is essential to the lives of people who suffer from a disease. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) can help in designing a functioning profile of a patient, identifying needs for rehabilitation plans and measuring the results of an intervention.

Objective: To identify the outcome measurement instruments reported in clinical studies in muscular dystrophies (MDs) and provide an ICF content analysis.

Experimental unified pH scale in 1,2-dichloroethane.

Institute of Chemistry, University of Tartu (UT), Ravila Street 14a, 50411 Tartu, Estonia.

Experimental potentiometric unified pH (pH) scale is presented in 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE). The scale was compiled using differential potentiometric measurements, carried out by pair-wise comparisons between solutions. Aqueous standard buffer solutions were used as anchor points, so that the obtained pH values are linked to (, are traceable to) the conventional aqueous pH scale and are expressed as values.

Individual molecules dissolved in a dilute solution are usually considered not to correlate with each other as they undergo chemical reactions due to the mismatch of the diffusion and reaction time scales. Recent studies suggest otherwise, especially for reactions involving macromolecules. With selenopolypeptides as a model system, we used ensemble measurements and single-molecule direct imaging to investigate the correlation between physically constrained chemical reaction sites on a linear polymer chain and the coupling effects between conformation changes and reaction kinetics.

Background: This video article describes the use of bone-anchored prostheses for patients with transtibial amputations, most often resulting from trauma, infection, or dysvascular disease. Large studies have shown that about half of all patients with a socket-suspended artificial limb experience limited mobility and limited prosthesis use because of socket-related problems. These problems occur at the socket-residual limb interface as a result of a painful and unstable connection, leading to an asymmetrical gait and subsequent pelvic and back pain.

A low-cost method of green hydrogen production via the modification of a lead acid battery has been achieved, resulting in a hydrogen flow rate of 5.3 L min from a 20-cell string. The electrochemical behavior and catalytic effect of various metal additives on the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry.
