We demonstrate a versatile method for creating state-dependent optical lattices by applying a magnetic field gradient modulated in time. This allows for tuning the relative amplitude and sign of the tunneling for different internal states. We observe substantially different momentum distributions depending on the spin state of fermionic ^{40}K atoms. Using dipole oscillations, we probe the spin-dependent band structure and find good agreement with theory. In situ expansion dynamics demonstrate that one state can be completely localized while others remain itinerant. A systematic study shows negligible heating and lifetimes of several seconds in the Hubbard regime.

Semiconductors with large energetic separation Δ of energy sub-bands with distinct spin expectation values (spin textures) represent a key target to enable control over spin transport and spin-optoelectronic properties. While the paradigmatic case of symmetry-dictated Rashba spin splitting and associated spin textures remains the most explored pathway toward designing future spin-transport-based quantum information technologies, controlling spin physics beyond the Rashba paradigm by accessing strategically targeted crystalline symmetries holds significant promise. In this paper, we show how breaking the traditional paradigm of octahedron-rotation based structure distortions in 2D organic-inorganic perovskites (2D-OIPs) can facilitate exceptionally large spin splittings (Δ > 400 meV) and spin textures with extremely short spin helix lengths ( ∼ 5 nm).

Calcium imaging allows recording from hundreds of neurons in vivo with the ability to resolve single cell activity. Evaluating and analyzing neuronal responses, while also considering all dimensions of the data set to make specific conclusions, is extremely difficult. Often, descriptive statistics are used to analyze these forms of data.

Background: Short mindfulness-based interventions have gained traction in research due to their positive impact on well-being, cognition, and clinical symptoms across various settings. However, these short-term trainings are viewed as preliminary steps within a more extensive transformative path, presumably leading to long-lasting trait changes. Despite this, little is still known about the brain correlates of these meditation traits.

Empirical study of robust/developed PID control for nonlinear time-delayed dynamical system in discrete time domain.

In addition to the high nonlinearity of liquid dynamics inside a tank, a study was conducted to overcome loading/unloading liquid storage tank control problems. In this study, the author developed a nonlinear control system to conquer both nonlinearity and the significant time delay arising from using a pressure-difference-based level sensor. To this end, this study proposes the implementation of nonlinear state dependent (SDP-PID+) control using the SDP transfer function model as a class of nonlinear descriptions of dynamical systems.
