Background: N-of-1 trials compare two or more treatment options for a single participant. These trials have been used to study options for chronic conditions such as arthritis and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. In addition, they have been suggested as a means to study interventions in rare populations that may not be tractable to include in standard clinical trials, such as treatment options for HIV-positive patients in need of organ transplant.

Background: The 3xTg-AD transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an important tool to investigate the relationship between development of pathological amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau, neuroinflammation, and cognitive impairments. Traditional behavioral tasks assessing aspects of learning and memory, such as mazes requiring spatial navigation, unfortunately suffer from several shortcomings, including the stress of human handling and not probing species-typical behavior. The automated IntelliCage system was developed to circumvent such issues by testing mice in a social environment while measuring multiple aspects of cognition.

Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is the most common cause of death and long-term disabilities in term neonates. Caffeine exerts anti-inflammatory effects and has been used in neonatal intensive care units in recent decades. In our neonatal rat model of hypoxic-ischemic (HI) brain injury, we demonstrated that a single daily dose of caffeine (40 mg/kg) for 3 days post-HI reduced brain tissue loss and microgliosis compared to the vehicle group.

Background: Studies have revealed abnormalities of the epiphyseal plate of the distal femur in patients with trochlear dysplasia, but it is unclear whether the epiphyseal plate could be remodeled after surgical correction of patellar dislocation.
Purpose: To investigate whether the morphology of the epiphyseal plate and trochlea could be improved after medial patellar retinaculum plasty in skeletally immature patients and to investigate the correlations between the morphology of the epiphyseal plate and trochlear dysplasia as well as clinical outcomes.
Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3.

Objectives: To assess the appropriateness and readability of large language model (LLM) chatbots' answers to frequently asked questions about refractive surgery.
Materials And Methods: Four commonly used LLM chatbots were asked 40 questions frequently asked by patients about refractive surgery. The appropriateness of the answers was evaluated by 2 experienced refractive surgeons.
