Introduction: Increased risk of cardiovascular disease in HIV-infected patients was tought to be the cause of multiple mechanistic factors, which changing the HIV care landscape. Antiretroviral therapy (ART), especially protease inhibitors (PI), is one of common HIV treatments that may have some association with this. The mechanism of PI in comparison to other regimens, however, are not clearly understood.

Background: Oxidative stress is crucial in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Under the generic terms "oxidative stress" (OS), many biomarkers belonging to different pathways have been proposed.
Aim: To compare the levels of recently proposed OS-related parameters in acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stable coronary artery disease (CAD), to evaluate their effectiveness as additive risk or illness indicators of stable and acute ischemic events, and their response over time during the course of AMI.

Immune responses against antigens generally require an efficient activation of antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Currently, the targeting of vaccine antigens to APCs has emerged as a promising strategy for boosting vaccine immunogenicity. Here, we reported that the C-terminus of heat shock protein 60 (HSP60C) can activate mouse peritoneal macrophages to secret a series of cytokines, and phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and NF-κB p65 was involved in the pathway.

The single-chain variable fragment (scFv) against lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor-1 (LOX-1) is a promising molecule for its potential use in the diagnosis and immunotherapy of atherosclerosis. Producing this scFv in several milligram amounts could be the starting point for further engineering and application of the scFv. In this study, the abundant expression of the anti-LOX-1 scFv was attempted using () and .
