Nose-on-Chip Nanobiosensors for Early Detection of Lung Cancer Breath Biomarkers.

ACS Sens

September 2024

Nanotechnology and Integrated Bioengineering Centre (NIBEC), School of Engineering, Ulster University, 2-24 York Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland BT15 1AP, United Kingdom.

Lung cancer remains a global health concern, demanding the development of noninvasive, prompt, selective, and point-of-care diagnostic tools. Correspondingly, breath analysis using nanobiosensors has emerged as a promising noninvasive nose-on-chip technique for the early detection of lung cancer through monitoring diversified biomarkers such as volatile organic compounds/gases in exhaled breath. This comprehensive review summarizes the state-of-the-art breath-based lung cancer diagnosis employing chemiresistive-module nanobiosensors supported by theoretical findings.

Background: Interleukin-1 receptor accessory protein (IL-1RAP) is one of the most promising therapeutic targets proposed for myeloid leukemia. Antibodies (Abs) specific to IL-1RAP could be valuable tools for targeted therapy of this lethal malignancy. This study is about the preparation of a difficult-to-produce single-chain variable fragment (scFv) construct against the membrane-bound isoform of human IL-1RAP using Escherichia coli (E.

Diagnosis and prognosis of Alzheimer's disease by electrochemical nanoaptasensors have recently received abundant attention. In this review, all recent nanomaterial-based electrochemical aptasensors developed to diagnose or prognosis Alzheimer's disease have been collected, categorized, and reviewed. Analytes in these aptasensors were specific biomarkers, including amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau protein, as well as other nonspecific markers (microRNAs (miRNAs), dopamine, thrombin, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), interleukin-6, α-1 antitrypsin, α-synuclein, target DNA (tDNA), and glycated albumin).

Updating facial emotional expressions in working memory: Differentiating trait anxiety and depressiveness.

Acta Psychol (Amst)

September 2020

University of Tartu, Institute of Psychology, Division of Neuropsychopharmacology, Näituse-2, Tartu 50409, Estonia.

Individual differences in updating emotional facial expressions in working memory are not fully understood. Here we focused on the effects of high trait anxiety and high depressiveness in men and women on updating schematic emotional facial expressions (sad, angry, scheming, happy, neutral). A population representative sample of young adults was divided into four emotional disposition groups based on STAI-T and MADRS cut-offs: high anxiety (HA, n = 41), high depressiveness (HD, n = 31), high depressiveness & high anxiety (HAHD, n = 65) and control (CT, n = 155).
