A multi-city COVID-19 categorical forecasting model utilizing wastewater-based epidemiology.

Sci Total Environ

January 2025

Department of Civil and Systems Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA; Department of Epidemiology, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, MD, USA.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted shortcomings in forecasting models, such as unreliable inputs/outputs and poor performance at critical points. As COVID-19 remains a threat, it is imperative to improve current forecasting approaches by incorporating reliable data and alternative forecasting targets to better inform decision-makers. Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) has emerged as a viable method to track COVID-19 transmission, offering a more reliable metric than reported cases for forecasting critical outcomes like hospitalizations.

Phase regulation of Ni(OH) nanosheets induced by W doping as self-supporting electrodes for boosted water electrolysis.

J Colloid Interface Sci

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Heavy Oil Processing, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Changping 102249, China. Electronic address:

Developing high-performance and low-cost electrodes for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER, respectively) represents a pivotal challenge in the field of water electrolysis. Herein, W doped NiFe LDH nanosheets (NiFe-W/NF) were immobilized on nickel foam (NF) through one-step corrosion engineering, which induced the coexistence of α-Ni(OH) and β-Ni(OH). The doping of large atomic radius W influenced the growth of crystal planes of Ni(OH), promoting the formation of α-Ni(OH), which results in large layer spaces and neatly arranged nanosheets structure.

Heat stress greatly impairs poultry productivity, underscoring the urgent need for effective strategies to mitigate these adverse effects and improve overall poultry health. This study assessed the impact of dietary curcumin nanoparticles (CurNPs) on blood metabolites, immunity, redox status, ileal histomorphometry, and growth of broilers subjected to heat stress. A total of 400 one-day-old Ross-308 broiler chicks were randomly distributed into five groups, each consisting of eight replicates with ten birds per replicate.

CtWD40-6 enhances the UV-B tolerance of safflower by regulating flavonoid accumulation.

Plant Physiol Biochem

January 2025

College of Life Sciences, Engineering Research Center of the Chinese Ministry of Education for Bioreactor and Pharmaceutical Development, Jilin Agricultural University, Changchun, 130118, China; Institute for Safflower Industry Research / Pharmacy School of Shihezi University, Shihezi, 832003, China. Electronic address:

Moderate UV-B promotes plant growth, but excessive UV-B inhibits plant development. The induction mechanism of how CtWD40-6 responds to UV-B is still unclear in safflower. Our results showed that CtWD40-6 is expressed at the top of safflower leaves and is strongly induced by UV-B.
