Purpose: Dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) imaging has commonly been applied to study blood perfusion in the human brain and heart, but there is a very limited amount of existing research about the suitability of this method for many other organs of interest. Here, we focus on the quantification of pulmonary blood flow (PBF) in human lungs. We evaluate both the potential of the O-water PET imaging via compartmental modeling with automatic volume of interest (VOI) selection for PBF quantification and study the possible differences in PBF caused by different patient characteristics such as age or sex.

Introduction: Recent studies have shown that wearing masks can influence face recognition abilities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people became increasingly familiar with seeing masked faces, leading to a reduced familiarity with fully uncovered faces. With Taiwan now transitioning to a post-COVID-19 phase and the removal of mask mandates, this study investigates how varying levels of mask coverage affect face identification accuracy and response times.

The segmentation of liver margins in computed tomography (CT) images presents significant challenges due to the complex anatomical variability of the liver, with critical implications for medical diagnostics and treatment planning. In this study, we leverage a substantial dataset of over 4,200 abdominal CT images, meticulously annotated by expert radiologists from Taleghani Hospital in Kermanshah, Iran. Now made available to the research community, this dataset serves as a rich resource for enhancing and validating various neural network models.

Over the past two decades, sequential recommendation systems have garnered significant research interest, driven by their potential applications in personalized product recommendations. In this article, we seek to explicitly model an algorithm based on Internet of Things (IoT) data to predict the next cell reached by the user equipment (UE). This algorithm exploits UE embedding and cell embedding combining the visit time interval information, and uses sliding window sampling to process more UE trajectory data.

Biological bone screws play an important role in fixing fractures and bone defects. The machining of helical grooves on xenogenic materials is a key part of fabricating biological bone screws. The fabrication of helical grooves on bovine bone using micro-abrasive air jets was investigated in this paper.
