Background: Although hip arthroscopy has been shown to have beneficial outcomes, there is a paucity of literature examining predictive factors of 10-year clinical outcomes.

The reality of dermatology practice in the 21st century includes the potential for lawsuits and liability. While medical malpractice may be top-of-mind, there are a host of liability risks beyond malpractice-from employee claims and fiduciary liability for the practice retirement plan to premises liability and HIPAA violations-as well as potential personal liability for rental properties, car accidents (for self and children), outside businesses, personal guarantees and more. This article outlines the leading tools dermatologists can utilize to better shield their assets from potential liability-including exempt assets, co-ownership forms, and legal tools, such as limited liability companies and trusts.

In the wake of the recent coronavirus disease of 2019 public health emergency, care delivery by means of telemedicine using audiovisual virtual platforms has become an important tool for patient communication. There are many logistic, medicolegal, and practical aspects of telemedicine that should be considered by the practicing plastic surgeon. Successful virtual patient interactions require an understanding of medical licensure requirements to perform telemedicine visits in a certain region.

Telecommunication assisted forensic assessments of capacity and mistreatment by geriatricians with expertise in elder abuse and self-neglect are helping to meet the demand for such forensic services for Adult Protective Services (APS) clients in remote and underserved areas of Texas. The use of synchronous audiovisual assisted interviews instead of in-person interviews with clients to provide capacity assessments has become more important with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is growing interest in establishing similar programs in other states using geriatrician faculty from medical schools to serve the clients of their state Adult Protective Services agencies.
