Background: Spinal aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) are challenging to manage due to high vascularity and proximity to critical structures. Two patients with large, symptomatic thoracic ABCs are presented.
Observations: Preoperative tumor embolization via pedicle artery sacrifice was performed prior to planned resection to reduce intraoperative blood loss and the risk of postoperative neurological deficits.

Metabolic acidosis is common in preterm and term newborn infants and may be attributed to a variety of etiologies, potentially requiring base therapy such as acetate or bicarbonate. However, concerns exist regarding potential harm of sodium bicarbonate due to intracellular acidosis, fluctuations in cerebral blood flow, and osmolar load with rapid infusions, with no improvement in survival when used during resuscitation. Alternative approaches to correct metabolic acidosis include the addition of acetate in parenteral nutrition, intravenous lactated Ringer's (LR) solution, and use of oral citrate.

Purpose: To improve the oral bioavailability of albendazole (ABZ), a series of albendazole-bile acid conjugates (ABCs) were synthesized. ABC's transmembrane transport mechanism and in vivo pharmacokinetic properties were preliminarily studied.
Methods: The transmembrane transport mechanism of ABCs was studied using the Caco-2 monolayer cell model and intestinal perfusion model.

After introducing pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs), serotype replacement occurred in . Predicting which pneumococcal strains will become common in carriage after vaccination can enhance vaccine design, public health interventions, and understanding of pneumococcal evolution. Invasive pneumococcal isolates were collected during 1998-2018 by the Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs).

Purpose: This study aimed to determine whether the 21-Gene Breast Recurrence Score® assay from primary breast tissue predicts the prognosis of patients with hormone receptor-positive and human epidermal growth factor 2-negative advanced breast cancers (ABCs) treated with fulvestrant monotherapy (Group A) and the addition of palbociclib combined with fulvestrant (Group B), which included those who had progression in Group A from the Japan Breast Cancer Research Group-M07 (FUTURE trial).
Methods: Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared using the log-rank test and Cox regression analysis based on original recurrence score (RS) categories (Low: 0-17, Intermediate: 18-30, High: 31-100) by treatment groups (A and B) and types of ABCs (recurrence and de novo stage IV).
Results: In total, 102 patients [Low: n = 44 (43.
