A ZnO-MnO composite was synthesized using a simple solvothermal method combined with a high-temperature treatment. To observe the phase change during the heating process, in situ high-temperature XRD analysis was performed under vacuum conditions. The results indicated that ZnMn2O4 transformed into the ZnO-MnO composite phase starting from 500 °C and that this composite structure was retained until 700 °C. The electrochemical performances of the ZnO-MnO composite electrode were evaluated through galvanostatic discharge-charge tests and cyclic voltammetry analysis. Its initial coulombic efficiency was significantly improved to 68.3% compared to that of ZnMn2O4 at 54.7%. Furthermore, the ZnO-MnO composite exhibited improved cycling performance and enhanced rate capability compared with untreated ZnMn2O4. To clarify the discharge-charge mechanism of the ZnO-MnO composite electrode, the structural changes during the charge and discharge processes were also investigated using ex situ XRD and TEM.

In this study, a ZnO/MnO nanocomposite was myco-fabricated using the isolated endophytic Clonostachys rosea strain EG99 as the nano-factory. The extract of strain EG99, a reducing/capping agent, was successfully titrated with equal quantities of Zn(NO)·6HO and Mn(NO)·6HO (precursors) in a single step to fabricate the rod-shaped ZnO/MnO nanocomposite of size 6.22 nm.

In this experiment, a fixed bed of pyrolysis was used to conduct pyrolysis with coal and a mixture of coal and catalyst, and the distribution and composition of tar products were studied. The pyrolysis of raw coal was carried out at different temperatures and at different constant temperature times, and the effects of pyrolysis temperature and constant temperature pyrolysis time on tar product formation from raw coal pyrolysis were studied. γ-AlO was used as the carrier, and 4 kinds of alkaline earth metal oxides (MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO), 3 kinds of subgroup metal oxides (FeO, CoO, NiO) and 5 kinds of VIII metal oxides (CrO, MnO, CuO, ZnO, MnO) were selected as active components.

Our previous work had demonstrated that UV/NaClO was the best advanced oxidation method in terms of nitric oxide (NO) removal, but we have not studied the impact of the fly ash on NO removal under such conditions. For this, this paper selected six kinds of fly ashes and studied their effects on NO removal. The micromorphology, elemental composition, and the elemental oxidation states of these six fly ashes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and inductively coupled plasma methods.

Intensive fertilization has been required to provide nutrients for plant growth under the current agricultural practices being applied to meet the global food demands. Micronutrients such as zinc, manganese, and copper are required in small quantities when compared to macronutrients (such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium), but they are essential for the plant growth cycle and consequently for increasing productivity. Mineral oxides such as ZnO, MnO, and CuO are used in agriculture as micronutrient sources, but their low solubility limits practical applications in plant nutrition.

The carbon coating strategy is intensively used in the modification of conversion-type anode materials to improve their cycling stability and rate capability. Thus, it is necessary to elucidate the modification mechanism induced by carbon coating. For this purpose, bare ZnMnO, carbon-derivative-coated ZnMnO, and carbon-coated ZnO-MnO composite materials have been synthesized and investigated in-depth.
