Nonadiabatic molecular dynamics combined with time-domain density functional theory are used to study electron transfer (ET) from a CdSe quantum dot (QD) to the C60 fullerene, occurring in several types of hybrid organic/inorganic nanocomposites. By unveiling the time dependence of the ET process, we show that covalent bonding between the QD and C60 is particularly important to ensure ultrafast transmission of the excited electron from the QD photon-harvester to the C60 electron acceptor. Despite the close proximity of the donor and acceptor species provided by direct van der Waals contact, it leads to a notably weaker QD-C60 interaction than a lengthy molecular bridge. We show that the ET rate in a nonbonded mixture of QDs and C60 can be enhanced by doping. The photoinduced ET is promoted primarily by mid- and low-frequency vibrations. The study establishes the basic design principles for enhancing photoinduced charge separation in nanoscale light harvesting materials.

In the current investigation, the efficiency inhibition of two newly synthesized bi-pyrazole derivatives, namely 2,3-bis[(bis((1 H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) amino)] pyridine (Tetra-Pz-Ortho) and 1,4-bis[(bis((1 H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) amino)] benzene (Tetra-Pz-Para) for corrosion of carbon steel (C&S) in 1 M HCl medium was evaluated. A Comparative study of inhibitor effect of Tetra-Pz-Ortho and Tetra-Pz-Para was conducted first using weight loss method and EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) and PDP (Potentiodynamic Polarisation) techniques. The reduction of CO mediated by transition metals has garnered significant interest, yet little is known about the reduction of CO using f-element compounds. Herein, the reduction of CO to CO by tetravalent uranium (U) compound UO is investigated via matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy and quantum chemical study. Our results reveal that a stable carbonate intermediate OUCO () can be prepared at low temperatures (4-12 K).

Background: Permethrin is a pesticide used to kill insects, and once used in excess, it poses a great threat to the environment and human health, therefore, it is necessary to realize the rapid and accurate detection of permethrin. Fiber optic surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probes have the advantages of small volume and can be used for remote monitoring, which have great potential for application in achieving in-situ detection of pesticide residues.

Results: Fiber taper waist (FTW) SERS probes modified by silver nanocubes-graphene oxide (Ag NCs-GO) composite structures were prepared for in situ detection of permethrin in lake water.
