Experimental biology is providing the distribution of numerous different biological molecules inside cells and in body fluids of patients. Statistical methods of analysis have very successfully examined these rather large databases. We seek to use a thermodynamic analysis to provide a physical understanding and quantitative characterization of human cancers and other pathologies within a molecule-centered approach. The key technical development is the introduction of a Lagrangian. By imposing constraints the minimal value of the Lagrangian defines a thermodynamically stable state of the cellular system. The minimization also allows using experimental data measured at a number of different conditions to evaluate the steady-state distribution of biomolecules such as messenger RNAs. Thereby the number of effectively accessible quantum states of biomolecules is determined from the experimentally measured expression levels. With the increased resolution provided by the minimization of the Lagrangian one can differentiate between normal and diseased patients and further between disease subtypes. Each such refinement corresponds to imposing an additional constraint of biological origin. The constraints are the unbalanced ongoing biological processes in the system. MicroRNA expression level data for control and diseased lung cancer patients are analyzed as an example.

The risk of cardiovascular disease differs among various ethnic groups, highlighting disparities in cardiovascular health among different populations. While multiple studies from other countries have looked at changes in physiological parameters during autonomic function tests like isometric handgrip and cold pressor tests, no correlational research has been done in Saudi Arabia. This lacuna underscores the importance of examining the relationship between cardiorespiratory parameters in young Saudi Arabian individuals during these tests.

Background: We aimed to evaluate and compare the rise in the temperature for the safety of the kidney parenchyma on firing the Holmium: Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser and the Thulium Fiber Laser during laser lithotripsy in humans.
Method: We included 30 pre-stented patients with renal calculi undergoing Retrograde intra-renal surgery. They were randomized into two groups - 15 patients underwent holmium laser lithotripsy and 15 patients underwent TFL laser lithotripsy.

Importance: Climate change can adversely affect mental health, but the association of ambient temperature with psychiatric symptoms remains poorly understood.
Objective: To assess the association of ambient temperature exposure with internalizing, externalizing, and attention problems in adolescents from 2 population-based birth cohorts in Europe.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study analyzed data from the Dutch Generation R Study and the Spanish INMA (Infancia y Medio Ambiente) Project.

Photothermal therapy, in which a laser is an effective tool, is a promising method for cancer treatment. Laser parameters, including power, irradiation time, type of laser radiation (continuous or chopped), and the concentration of the photothermal agent, can affect the efficiency of this method. Therefore, this study investigated and compared the effects of different laser parameters on the efficiency of photothermal treatment for cervical cancer, which is the fourth most prevalent cancer in women.

Kinetic stability, in addition to thermodynamic stability, can directly impact protein lifetime, abundance, and the formation of alternative, sometimes disruptive states. However, we have very few measurements of protein unfolding rates or how mutations alter these rates, largely due to technical challenges associated with their measurement.
