To identify potential sources of hookworm infections in a Ghanaian community of endemicity that could be targeted to interrupt transmission, we tracked the movements of infected and noninfected persons to their most frequented locations. Fifty-nine participants (29 hookworm positives and 30 negatives) wore GPS trackers for 10 consecutive days. Their movement data were captured in real time and overlaid on a community grid map.

The exclusion of immune cells from the tumor can limit the effectiveness of immunotherapy in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase-stimulator of interferon genes (cGAS-STING) pathway plays a crucial role in priming adaptive anti-tumor immunity through the production of type I interferons (IFNs), facilitating the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs) and the function of T cells. Although the increased expression of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) upon STING activation is favorable for amplifying the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and realizing combination therapy, the penetration barrier remains a major obstacle.

Since formaldehyde oxidation reaction (FOR) can release H, it is attractive to construct a bipolar hydrogen production system consisting of FOR and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Although copper-based catalysts have attracted much attention due to their low cost and high FOR activity, the performance enhancement mechanism lacks in-depth investigation. Here, an amorphous-crystalline catalyst of amorphous nickel hydroxide-coated copper dendrites on copper foam (Cu@Ni(OH)/CF) is prepared.

Genetic medicines, including CRISPR/Cas technologies, extend tremendous promise for addressing unmet medical need in inherited retinal disorders and other indications; however, there remain challenges for the development of therapeutics. Herein, we evaluate genome editing by engineered Cas9 ribonucleoproteins (eRNP) in vivo via subretinal administration using mouse and pig animal models. Subretinal administration of adenine base editor and double strand break-inducing Cas9 nuclease eRNPs mediate genome editing in both species.
