Aim: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of an active matrix metalloproteinase-8 (aMMP-8) point-of-care oral rinse test (POC-ORT) for predicting periodontitis in treatment-naïve subjects in two independent studies and update a recent meta-analysis.

Methods: The aMMP-8 POC-ORT index test was performed in a representative population in Hong Kong, China, and a consecutive convenience sample in Shanghai, China. The reference standard was the 2017 World Workshop classification of periodontal diseases.

The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants with defined mutations that enhance pathogenicity or facilitate immune evasion has resulted in a continual decline in the protective efficacy of existing vaccines. Therefore, there is a pressing need for a vaccine capable of combating future variants. This study was designed to assess the effect of brentuximab vedotin on several breast cancer cell lines in terms of promoting apoptosis and managing cancer progression. Additionally, the study investigated the potential of repurposing this drug for new therapeutic reasons, beyond its original indications. The study evaluates the cytotoxic effects of Brentuximab vedotin across five cell lines: normal human skin fibroblasts (HSF), three breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231, and T-47D), and histiocytic lymphoma (U-937).
