Background And Purpose: To develop, test, and establish the validity and reliability of 4 instruments to evaluate perceptions of paired patients and patient-identified significant others to assess the impact of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) and multiple daily insulin injections (MDII) on diabetes management and lifestyle.

Methods: Sociotechnical systems theory and the life patterns model framed the study. Four parallel survey instruments (patient CSII and MDII and significant other CSII and MDII) were developed to elicit demographic information and perceptions concerning CSII and MDII.

Results: Validity and reliability were established.

Conclusions: The instruments developed for this study could be adapted or used as templates in management approach impact studies of other chronic diseases. The study should be replicated with a different geographic sample.

The false evidence rate: An approach to frequentist error rate control conditioning on the observed value.

A value is conventionally interpreted either as a) the probability by chance of obtaining more extreme results than those observed or b) a tool for declaring significance at a prespecified level. Both approaches carry difficulties: b) does not allow users to make inferences based on the data in hand, and is not rigorously followed by researchers in practice, while (a) is not meaningful as an error rate. Although values retain an important role, these shortcomings are likely to have contributed significantly to the scientific reproducibility crisis.

Objectives: To evaluate the value of contrast-enhanced CT in diagnosing ultrasonography-unspecified adnexal torsion (AT).

Methods: Surgically confirmed patients with painful pelvic masses (n = 165) were retrospectively collected from two institutes. Two senior radiologists independently reviewed the CT images and determined the Hounsfield unit difference between non-contrast vs portal venous phases (ΔHU) in both derivation and validation samples.

Aim: The Internet Gaming Disorder Scale is a 9-item screening instrument developed based on the diagnostic criteria for Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) in the DSM-5. This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale for children (IGDS-C) in Japanese clinical and nonclinical populations.

Methods: The study included clinical outpatients aged 9-29 with problematic game use and nonclinical adolescents aged 12-18 who played online games at least once a week.

Unlabelled: Archaeal molecular biology has been a topic of intense research in recent decades as their role in global ecosystems, nutrient cycles, and eukaryotic evolution comes to light. The hypersaline-adapted archaeal species and serve as important model organisms for understanding archaeal genomics, genetics, and biochemistry, in part because efficient tools enable genetic manipulation. As a result, the number of strains in circulation among the haloarchaeal research community has increased in recent decades.

Cancer diagnostics often faces challenges, such as invasiveness, high costs, and limited sensitivity for early detection, emphasizing the need for improved approaches. We present a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-based platform leveraging inverted pyramid SU-8 nanostructured substrates fabricated via nanoimprint lithography. These substrates, characterized by sharp apices and edges, are further functionalized with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES), enabling the uniform self-assembly of AuNPs to create a highly favorable configuration for enhanced SERS analysis.
