We examined the effects of reinforcement magnitude on skill acquisition during discrete-trial training. After conducting a magnitude preference assessment, we compared acquisition during conditions with large and small magnitudes of edible reinforcement to a praise-only condition. Although all participants showed a preference for the large-magnitude reinforcer, preference did not predict the magnitude that produced the fastest skill acquisition.

Background: Traditional oral diagnosis education often relies on passive lectures and individual case assessments. Team-based learning (TBL) offers an interactive alternative, but implementation challenges can exist. The 'Case of the Week (COW)' method presents a potentially modified TBL approach for oral diagnosis education.

Background: Correct identification of the epidural space requires extensive training for technical proficiency. This study explores a novel bimanual haptic simulator designed for the precise insertion of an epidural needle based on loss-of-resistance (LOR) detection, providing realistic dual-hand force feedback.
Methods: The simulator, equipped with two haptic devices connected to a Tuohy needle and an LOR syringe, was designed to simulate the tissues' resistive forces felt by the user during the procedure, offer anatomical variability and record detailed performance metrics for personalized feedback.

Introduction: Physical activity interventions in deprived communities should acknowledge the social, political, and cultural context in which they are delivered. Targeted young leaders programs can harness positive youth development principles and address these concerns by engaging underrepresented young people and developing them as physical activity leaders who can support local delivery efforts. Community-based Youth Leadership development programs are under-researched, and little is known about how to develop young people from deprived communities as physical activity leaders.

Background: The development of practical skills is crucial in medical education, with various teaching-learning (T/L) methods such as Demonstration-Observation-Assistance-Performance (DOAP), Peyton's four-step approach, and See One Do One Teach One (SO-DO-TO) being employed to enhance students' competencies in handling medical devices.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of DOAP, Peyton's approach and SO-DO-TO methods on skill performance of 1-year MBBS students in using a sphygmomanometer, audiometer, and electrocardiogram (ECG).
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 126 1-year MBBS students, who were randomly divided into three groups ( = 42).
