We present a one-step layer deposition procedure employing ammonium iodide (NH4I) to achieve photovoltaic quality PbS quantum dot (QD) layers. Ammonium iodide is used to replace the long alkyl organic native ligands binding to the QD surface resulting in iodide terminated QDs that are stabilized in polar solvents such as N,N-dimethylformamide without particle aggregation. We extensively characterized the iodide terminated PbS QD via UV-vis absorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), FT-IR transmission spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Finally, we fabricated PbS QD photovoltaic cells that employ the iodide terminated PbS QDs. The resulting QD-PV devices achieved a best power conversion efficiency of 2.36% under ambient conditions that is limited by the layer thickness. The PV characteristics compare favorably to similar devices that were prepared using the standard layer-by-layer ethandithiol (EDT) treatment that had a similar layer thickness.

Background: Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury refers to cell damage that occurs as a consequence of the restoration of blood circulation following reperfusion therapy for cardiovascular diseases, and it is a primary cause of myocardial infarction. The search for nove therapeutic targets in the context of I/R injury is currently a highly active area of research. p70 ribosomal S6 kinase (S6K1) plays an important role in I/R induced necrosis, although the specific mechanisms remain unclear.

Herein we report a cobalt-catalyzed hydroglycosylation of terminal alkynes, employing bench-stable ortho-iodobiphenyl (oIB) substituted sulfides as glycosyl donors. This reaction occurs with high stereo- and regioselectivity to afford E-configured vinyl α-C-glycosides, a class of compounds nontrivial to access by previous methods. The use of a bis(oxazoline) ligand with bulky side chains is critical for the high selectivities observed.

This study demonstrates the effectiveness of propidium iodide as a reliable marker for detecting dead or dying cells in frozen liver tissue sections. By comparing propidium iodide staining with the widely used Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay, both methods showed consistent results in disease models such as alcohol-induced fibrosis and Western diet-induced fatty liver. Additionally, propidium iodide was successfully co-stained with other fluorescent markers, like phalloidin (for actin filaments) and antibodies targeting collagen, enabling detailed spatial analysis of dying cells within tissue.

For the first time, our study provides a comprehensive examination of the anti-cancer effects of structural isomers of carene in breast cancer cells, specifically focusing on cell cycle inhibition and the induction of apoptosis. We utilized the hydro-distillation method to extract Piper nigrum seed essential oil (PNS-EO) and identified its bioactive components through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. A total of 46 bioactive compounds were isolated via hydro-distillation, identified through GC-MS analysis, and validated by co-injection using GC analysis.

Formamidine lead iodide (FAPbI) quantum dots (QDs) have attracted great attention as a new generation of photovoltaic material due to their long carrier diffusion length, benign ambient stability, and light-harvesting ability. However, its large surface area with inherent thermodynamic instability and highly defective ionic termination are still major obstacles to fabricating high-performance devices. Herein, a metallic ion dopant is developed to post-treat FAPbI QDs immediately after their fabrication by using a metal-glutamate salt solution.
