AI Article Synopsis

  • The study examined how macrophages affect natural killer (NK) cell activity in C3HA mice after they received a carcinogen injection.
  • It was found that macrophages play a crucial role in enhancing NK cell activity.
  • Notably, this stimulation of NK cell activity was most significant on the 13th day following the injection of the carcinogen.

Article Abstract

The influence of macrophages on NK cell activity of C3HA mice on 1, 7 and 13 days after single i. m. injection of 20-methylcholanthren was investigated. It is shown that macrophages significantly stimulate this activity on the 13th day after carcinogen application.

Article Synopsis
  • Thyroid hormones influence immune cell responses, impacting inflammation processes in the body.
  • The study aimed to investigate how hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism induce inflammation in the colon, using an experiment on 60 male mice.
  • Results showed that hyperthyroid mice had colonic mucosal hypertrophy and increased immune cell activity, while hypothyroid mice exhibited colonic mucosal atrophy with minimal immune response, suggesting thyroid status plays a role in regulating inflammation.

The state of physiological functions of the whole organism, its vital activity and adaptation to various changes in the surrounding and internal environment is controlled by neurohumoral mechanisms. The main place in the implementation of those mechanisms belongs to hormones. A clinically relevant problem is currently the relationship between activity of thyroid gland and prolactin.

Cryptosporidiosis causes persistent diarrhoea in infants, immunocompromised patients and elderly persons. Long-term consequences of the disease include increased risk of malignancy, cardiomyopathy and gastrointestinal inflammation. This study aimed to investigate prolonged effects of cryptosporidiosis on innate immunity and growth in neonatal C3HA mice.

We studied the effect of polychromatic visible (380-750 nm) (VIS) and combined with the visible infrared (480-3400 nm) (VIS-IR) radiation on the growth of hepatoma in mice. In the first series of experiments on C3HA mice with subcutaneously transplanted syngeneic hepatoma MH22a it was shown 1.5-4 times inhibition of tumor volume after irradiation of tumor-bearing mice with VIS-infrared light at a dose 4.

Objective: This study evaluated the function and structural consequences of direct exposure of murine hepatoma MH-22a cells to polychromatic polarized light, to determine potential risk of malignancy following irradiation.

Background Data: Visible (VIS) and infrared (IR) light have been actively used for prevention and treatment of complications developed after conventional tumor therapy. However, the safety associated with this irradiation has not been determined.
