Purpose: To identify the minimally required number of distances of visual acuity (VA) measurements for the reliable estimation of the visual acuity curve (VAC) and area of the curve (AoC) in presbyopia correction.

Patients And Methods: The study was divided into a validation and a clinical phase with a total recruitment of 120 participants (120 eyes) who underwent uncomplicated pseudophakic presbyopia surgery with bilateral premium intraocular lenses (IOL) implantation. This study was conducted in the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital of Alexandroupolis, Alexandroupolis, Greece.

Third trimester fetal 4D flow MRI with motion correction.

Magn Reson Med

January 2025

Department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine, Amsterdam University Medical Center, University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Purpose: To correct maternal breathing and fetal bulk motion during fetal 4D flow MRI.

Methods: A Doppler-ultrasound fetal cardiac-gated free-running 4D flow acquisition was corrected post hoc for maternal respiratory and fetal bulk motion in separate automated steps, with optional manual intervention to assess and limit fetal motion artifacts. Compressed-sensing reconstruction with a data outlier rejection algorithm was adapted from previous work.

Objectives: Freezing of Gait (FOG) is one of the disabling symptoms in patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD). While it is difficult to early detect because of the sporadic occurrence of initial freezing events. Whether the characteristic of gait impairments in PD patients with FOG during the 'interictal' period is different from that in non-FOG patients is still unclear.

Local field effects of quadrupole contributions on sum frequency generation spectroscopy.

J Chem Phys

December 2024

Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University, Sendai 980-8578, Japan.

In the theory of condensed-phase spectroscopy, local field effect is of general importance to account for intermolecular electrostatic interactions. The present paper extends the microscopic treatment of local field effects on the sum frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy to incorporate quadrupole interactions, since their roles have been increasingly recognized in the SFG spectroscopy. The extended theory involves some corrections to the conventional formulas of the nonlinear susceptibilities in both the interface and bulk regions, including the χIQB term.

Objective: Asthma is an inflammatory airway condition and the most common chronic disease in children. However, there is a lack of biological markers for asthma, especially in children. This study aimed to analyze the changes in periostin levels in children with uncontrolled asthma after 12 months of optimized management.
