The electron-selective layer (ESL) is an indispensable component of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and is responsible for the collection of photogenerated electrons. Preparing ESL at a low temperature is significant for future fabrication of flexible PSCs. In this work, solution-processed amorphous WO(x) thin film was prepared facilely at low temperature and used as ESL in PSCs. Results indicated that a large quantity of nanocaves were observed in the WO(x) thin film. In comparison with the conventional TiO2 ESL, the WO(x) ESL exhibited comparable light transmittance but higher electrical conductivity. Compared with the TiO2-based PSCs, PSCs that use WO(x) ESL exhibited comparable photoelectric conversion efficiency, larger short-circuit current density, but lower open-circuit voltage. Electrochemical characterization indicated that the unsatisfied open-circuit voltage and fill factor were caused by the inherent charge recombination. This study demonstrated that this material is an excellent candidate for ESL.

pH sensing technology is pivotal for monitoring aquatic ecosystems and diagnosing human health conditions. Indium-gallium-zinc oxide electrolyte-gated thin-film transistors (IGZO EGTFTs) are highly regarded as ion-sensing devices due to the pH-dependent surface chemistry of their sensing membranes. However, applying EGTFT-based pH sensors in complex biofluids containing diverse charged species poses challenges due to ion interference and inherently low sensitivity constrained by the Nernst limit.

Silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cell is an advanced and mature photovoltaic cell. Development of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting devices for hydrogen fuel production using SHJ solar cells is considered as a promising approach to address energy crisis. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to deposit passivation layer and cocatalyst layer on the photoelectrode.

This work unveils critical insights through spectroscopic analysis highlighting electrical phenomena and oxygen vacancy generation in self-aligned fully solution-processed oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs). Ar inductively coupled plasma treatment was conducted to fabricate an amorphous indium zinc oxide (a-InZnO) TFT in a self-aligned process. Results showed that the Ar plasma-activated a-InZnO regions became conductive, which means that a homogeneous layer can act as both channel and electrode in the device.

Due to their persistent photoconductivity, amorphous metal oxide thin films are promising for construction of artificial visual systems. In this work, large-scale, uniformly distributed amorphous InGaO thin films with an adjustable In/Ga ratio and thickness are prepared successfully by a low-cost environmentally friendly and easy-to-handle solution process for constructing artificial visual systems. With the increase of the In/Ga ratio and film thickness, the number of oxygen vacancies increases, along with the increase of post-synaptic current triggered by illumination, benefiting the transition of short-term plasticity to long-term plasticity.

Solution-processed colloidal III-V semiconductor-based quantum dots (QDs) represent promising and environmentally-friendly alternatives to Cd-based QDs in the realms of optoelectronics and biological applications. While InP-based core-shell QDs have demonstrated efficient light-emitting diode (LED) performance in the visible region, achieving deep-red emission (above 700 nm) with a narrow linewidth has proven challenging. Herein, the study presents a novel strategy for synthesizing InP/ZnSe/ZnS core-shell-shell QDs tailored for emission in the first biological transparency window.
