Currently, 47 species of the genus Platypalpus are known from the Caucasus including fourteen species recorded herein for the first time: P. albicornis (Zetterstedt, 1842), P. baldensis (Strobl, 1899), P. caroli Grootaert, 1987, P. ciliaris (Fallén, 1816), P. clarandus (Collin, 1926), P. collini (Chvála, 1966), P. cothurnatus Macquart, 1827, P. infectus (Collin, 1926), P. longicornis (Meigen, 1822), P. luteicornis (Meigen, 1838), P. nigrinus (Meigen, 1822), P. pseudociliaris (Strobl, 1910), P. ruficornis (von Roser, 1840), and P. smirnovi Kovalev, 1978. In addition, seven new species are described: P. akhunensis sp. nov. (Russia: Krasnodarskiy Territory), P. kintrishiensis sp. nov. (Georgia), P. lantsovi sp. nov. (Georgia), P. pseudosilvahumidus sp. nov. (Russia: Krasnodarskiy Territory, Karachay-Cherkessia), P. sinevi sp. nov. (Russia: Karachay-Cherkessia), P. subcaucasicus sp. nov. (Russia: Krasnodarskiy Territory, Dagestan) and P. teberdaensis sp. nov. (Russia: Karachay-Cherkessia). A key to species of Platypalpus from the Caucasus is presented for the first time.

Juvenile scleroderma (JS) is a rare chronic connective tissue disorder characterized by stiffening of the skin and soft tissues, including the oral cavity and perioral tissues, leading to fibrosis and a large spectrum of internal organs involvement, cosmetic defects, and early infant disability. The aim of this study was to investigate the histomorphological features of lesions of oral mucosa tissues in children with juvenile scleroderma (JS). 39 JS patients (9 with juvenile systemic sclerosis - JSS and 20 with juvenile scleroderma of head-JSH aged from 5 to 17 years were observed with dental examination and morphological investigation of the dental mucosa.

The European Union (EU) experienced two major instances of refugee influx: in 2015, refugees, mainly from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq fled civil war, persecution, and dire conditions in neighbouring countries and in 2022, Ukrainians fled from Russia's full-scale invasion. Fusing theoretical insights on framing and crisification of migration, we ask: How do EU actors frame situations of refugee mass influx? Employing a Discourse Network Analysis, we examine EU representatives' framing of both instances with respect to three analytical foci: (1) who or what they considered to be in crisis, (2) their framing of refugees; and (3) who they saw to be responsible for solving the crisis. We show how, in 2015, EU representatives framed mass displacement predominantly as a crisis at and of Europe's borders, and refugees as threats to Member States' public, economic and cultural security.

Unlabelled: The review deals with the application of Molecular Dynamics (MD) to the structure modeling of beta-amyloids (Aβ), currently classified as intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). In this review, we strive to relate the main advances in this area but specifically focus on the approaches and methodology. All relevant papers on the Aβ modeling are cited in the Tables in Supplementary Data, including a concise description of the applied approaches, sorted according to the types of the studied systems: modeling of the monomeric Aβ and Aβ aggregates.

Aptamers are short oligonucleotides that bind specifically to various ligands and are characterized by their low immunogenicity, thermostability, and ease of labeling. Many biomedical applications of aptamers as biosensors and drug delivery agents are currently being actively researched. Selective affinity selection with exponential ligand enrichment (SELEX) allows to discover aptamers for a specific target, but it only provides information about the sequence of aptamers; hence other approaches are used for determining aptamer structure, aptamer-ligand interactions and the mechanism of action.

Background And Aim: In animal husbandry, antibiotics are frequently used as growth promoters, as well as for illness prevention and treatment. They are considered important toxic and allergenic contaminants of food and a serious risk factor for the spread of antibiotic resistance. National and international regulatory authorities have established limits on the permissible residue of antibiotics in food.
