In this study we examined some histologic and histochemical characteristics of the embryonic sheep dental epithelium in early odontogenesis. During the first trimester of development, a short-lived dental lamina was observed. Apparently in the sheep, the interactions between epithelial and ectomesenchymal cells required for tooth normal morphogenesis are altered.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the use of quantitative MRI (qMRI) to measure intramuscular fat fraction (FF) as a potential outcome for tracking changes in patients with CMT1A over time.
  • A cohort of 24 patients underwent MRI scans at two different time points, allowing researchers to assess various muscle metrics and how these correspond to clinical severity scores.
  • Results showed a significant increase in FF in thigh and leg muscles over one year, along with a decline in magnetization transfer ratio (MTR), while strong correlations were found between FF and clinical measures like muscle strength.

Design Method and Teeth Contact Simulation of PEEK Involute Spline Couplings.

Materials (Basel)

December 2023

Department of International Applied Technology, Yibin University, No. 8. Luke, Wuliangye Avenue, Yibin 644002, China.

In order to design an involute spline made of PEEK (polyetheretherketone)-based material with better performance and improve the design rules of involute splines, initially, an involute splines design theory for PEEK (polyetheretherketone)-based materials is presented, which combines international standards (ISO 4156, 1. 2. 3, 2005), American standards (ANSI B92.

Gear drives are widely used in various fields and applications due to their properties and capacity. Their versatility, durability, and ability to transmit high torques as well as precision and reliability make them extremely useful in many fields of technology. They are widely used in industrial and energy machinery, vehicle drive systems, aerospace, medical devices, and many other areas.

Contact analysis and strength calculations of involute spline couplings.

Sci Rep

January 2023

Department of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Shimane University, 1060 Nishikawatsu-Cho, Matsue, 690-8504, Japan.

A finite element method (FEM) is presented to conduct loaded tooth contact analysis and strength calculations of involute spline couplings. Special FEM software has been developed. Contact, bending and shear stresses of the spline couplings are analyzed by the developed software and they are compared with results obtained by an approximation method.

Tooth surface wear is one of the most common failure modes of harmonic gears, especially in space drive mechanisms. Due to difficulty accurately modeling its wear failure model and the complex mechanism, its dynamic behavior and wear mechanism have not been deeply investigated, and study of the double-arc tooth profile wear model is relative lacking. Therefore, an improved wear modelling and analysis method that is more in line with actual conditions for double-arc harmonic gears is here proposed.
