Background: The arthrodesis of the first tarsometatarsal joint has a high correction potential in the treatment of hallux valgus deformity. Compared to distal correction procedures, a pseudarthrosis rate of 12-20% is quoted, however. In a prospective study the results of two different treatment procedures after correction arthrodesis were compared.
Methods: In 17 cases the patients were mobilised with a short arthrodeses shoe with floor contact (NWB group) and in 17 cases in a short arthrodeses shoe with immediate fullweightbearing (FWB group). Clinical and radiological evaluation was done preoperatively, six weeks and one year postoperatively, including visual analogue pain scale and AOFAS score pre- and one year postoperatively.
Results: There was no increased complication rate in the group with FWB group. The patients in the FWB group were significantly earlier fit for work.
Conclusion: Immediate fullweightbearing after TMT I arthrodesis using a plantar plate should be established as a standard posttreatment.

Food well-being (FWB) is fundamental for consumers' overall well-being. Previous studies have explored FWB through five domains (food socialization, literacy, marketing, availability, and policy) or food-related concepts (e.g.

Background: Performance status and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) are important parameters in the management of metastatic prostate cancer. The clinician-rated Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG-PS) may not relate with the patient-reported HRQoL because the later puts into consideration some aspects of health that are not captured by the former. The aim of this study is to define the relationship between clinician-rated ECOG-PS and the patient-reported HRQoL in men with metastatic hormone-naïve prostate cancer (mPCa).

Introduction: While balanced blood component therapy (BCT) is pivotal in trauma patient damage control resuscitation in well-resourced settings, disasters, and mass casualty incidents (MCIs) pose significant challenges, especially in securing sufficient access to blood products. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to explore the utilization of fresh whole blood (FWB) transfusion as a potential alternative to BCT, informing future research and clinical strategies.
Methods: We searched Pubmed, MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, the Cochrane Library and grey literature for articles identifying FWB transfusions, limited to those published in English or French.

Glenn and colleagues carefully conducted a realist review of initiatives introduced in high-income countries intended to improve financial well-being (FWB) or reduce financial strain (FS) during the early days of the pandemic. They found that these initiatives were underpinned by either neoliberal or social equity ideologies, within which, social location acted on different groups. In this commentary, we suggest caution in applying labels such as neoliberalism and social equity when lumping social welfare policies; labour policies; housing and financial services policies; and service provision for health, seniors, childcare, and education across welfare state regimes.

Introduction: Postoperative rehabilitation for distal femur fracture generally requires gait exercises with weight-bearing restrictions. We aimed to determine whether full weight-bearing gait exercises immediately postoperatively effectively maintain walking ability in older adult patients with distal femur fractures.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with distal femur fractures between April 2017 and March 2024 were retrospectively evaluated.
