Objective: The Adult Scale/National Stressful Events Survey Short Scale (NSESSS) is an emerging brief screening measure for the severity of Acute Stress Symptoms based on the of acute stress disorder (ASD). Scant information is known about the NSESSS's psychometric properties among different cultures or populations exposed to an ongoing trauma and displacement. Therefore, the present study aimed to (a) assess for the first time the psychometric properties and construct validity of the Hebrew version of NSESSS in an internally displaced population following the massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023; and (b) assess the possible risk and protective predictors of ASD according to sociodemographic characteristics, types of trauma exposure, absence of basic needs, and social support.

Background: Limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy neuropathologic change (LATE-NC) is a common neuropathologic finding at advanced age that associates with hippocampal sclerosis (HS) and is often comorbid with AD pathology. Neuroimaging measurements of LATE-NC-associated limbic degeneration have been proposed as indirect biomarkers, but molecular-specific biomarkers for LATE-NC are still lacking. Here we used combined ante-mortem blood and MRI data to study TDP-43 levels in plasma-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEV-TDP-43) and hippocampal volume (HV) in relation to LATE-NC and HS at autopsy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Characterizing pathological and functional features of the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is essential as Amyloid beta (Aβ) and tau, the pathological hallmarks of AD, start to accumulate years prior to the onset of clinical symptoms. Whether Aβ and/or tau are related to the brain's ability to functionally reconfigure in time (functional flexibility) remains unclear despite its important role in behavior and cognition.
Method: We included 233 cognitively unimpaired individuals with family history of AD from the PREVENT-AD cohort who underwent both Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI).

White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) are frequently observed in ageing individuals, and have a higher prevalence in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Ex-vivo assessments of the microstructural alterations within WMHs have reported heterogeneous tissue alterations, with demyelination, axonal loss, and inflammation presenting with various degrees of severity. There is a crucial need to better assess the severity of WMH microstructural alterations in vivo, in particular with the emergence of anti-amyloid immunotherapies and the associated risk of Amyloid Related Imaging Abnormalities (ARIAs) in individuals with comorbid vascular disease.
