Background: Recent studies suggest a link between dietary fat quality and obesity. Genetic risk scores (GRS) can predict obesity risk based on genetic factors. This study investigates how GRS and fatty acid quality affect visceral adiposity index (VAI) and body adiposity index (BAI) in overweight and obese women.

Dietary supplements are widely used among individuals exposed to hot environments, but whether their consumption confers any thermoregulatory effect is unclear. Therefore, we systematically evaluated the effect of dietary supplementation on key aspects of thermoregulation (core temperature [T] and sweating responses) in the heat. Three databases were searched in April 2024.

Background & Aims: To prevent food aspiration, numerous patients with aspiration pneumonia are restricted from eating early during their hospital stay. Although they receive parenteral nutrition (PN) on a fasting regimen, the optimal dose and composition remain unknown. The current study aimed to investigate whether PN with amino acids (AA) affects 30-day mortality of patients with aspiration pneumonia.

Background: Postprandial lipemia (PPL) has been recognised as a cardiovascular disease risk factor. Appetite and PPL can be influenced by the length of saturated fatty acids (FAs). Thus, this study aims to investigate if different FA chain lengths have different impacts on appetite and PPL in healthy volunteers.

Optimal adaptation to resistance exercise requires maximal rates of myofibrillar protein synthesis (MyoPS), which can be achieved by postexercise consumption of >20 g of protein or ~2 g of the essential amino acid (EAA) leucine. These nutritional recommendations are based on studies in males. The aim of the present study was to compare the postexercise MyoPS response to nutrition in young females.
