This case report describes a 78-year-old patient who developed a tear of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) during faricimab (Vabysmo) therapy. After three consecutive intravitreal aflibercept (Eylea) injections with persistent disease activity, therapy was switched to faricimab. The patient experienced a tear in the RPE 4 weeks postinjection.

Epigenetic regulation orchestrates many cellular processes and greatly influences key disease mechanisms. Histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzymes play a crucial role either as biomarkers or therapeutic targets owing to their involvement in specific pathophysiological pathways. Beyond their well-characterized role as histone modifiers, HDACs also interact with several nonhistone substrates and their increased expression has been highlighted in specific diseases.

Purpose: Although children with microstrabismus demonstrate stereoscopic abilities when assessed with clinical tests containing visible contours (local stereopsis), severe stereoscopic impairments are reported when using random-dot stereogram (RDS). This differential performance may be associated with the decreasing interocular correlation resulting from the central suppression present in the deviated eye, affecting global stereopsis to a greater extent.
Methods: To test this hypothesis, stereoscopic performance on tasks using contour/local (experiment 1), RDS depth (experiment 2), and RDS shape discrimination (experiment 3) was obtained in nine microstrabismic children and compared with that of control participants.

Recently, anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies for neovascular age-related macular degeneration have been developed. These agents, originally developed for their anti-angiogenic mechanism of action, probably also work through an anti-permeability effect in preventing or reducing the amount of leakage from submacular neovascular tissue. Other treatment modalities include laser photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy with verteporfin, and submacular surgery.
