Background: Cost-effectiveness analyses provide insight in the use of lifestyle interventions. To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of a lifestyle intervention compared to usual care in people with Familial Hypercholesterolemia, 340 people with FH were randomized to the intervention or control group. LDL cholesterol, quality of life and costs were measured at 0 and 12 months. Cost-effectiveness analyses were performed from a healthcare perspective using bootstrapping techniques.

Results: Non-significant decreases in LDL cholesterol and quality of life were found. The mean between-group difference in costs was €-237 (95% CI -1,386 to 130). The incremental cost-effectiveness ratios were 1,729 per 1 mmol/l LDL cholesterol and 145,899 per QALY gained. Assumed that the small non-significant decrease in LDL cholesterol is attributed to the intervention, the probability of cost-effectiveness of the intervention compared to usual care was 91% per 1 mmol/l LDL cholesterol reduction and 75% per QALY gained at a ceiling ratio of €20,000.

Conclusions: The intervention is not cost-effective.

Trial Registration: NTR1899, date 07-07-2009.

Background: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is the leading cause of mortality globally. Hypercholesterolemia accelerates atherosclerotic development and is an independent modifiable risk factor for ASCVD. Reducing cholesterol levels is effective in preventing ASCVD.

Purpose: There is a paucity of data on the safety and efficacy of long-term testosterone (T)-based gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) on anthropometric parameters, body composition, and glycolipid metabolism in assigned female at birth (AFAB) persons. The purpose of this study was to provide an updated meta-analysis on this topic.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library for relevant studies.

Background Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease associated with increased cardiovascular risk, partly due to dyslipidemia. This study aimed to evaluate the lipid profiles of Saudi Arabian patients with SLE and examine the impact of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and steroid use on these profiles, with a particular focus on patients with lupus nephritis. Methods A retrospective observational study was conducted at King Saud Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, including SLE patients treated at the hospital's rheumatology clinic between July 2023 and December 2023.

Background Sigma metrics, a cornerstone of quality control (QC) in manufacturing, have been increasingly adopted in analytical processes. In clinical biochemistry labs, Sigma analysis provides insights into the level of QC achieved and identifies deviations from perfection. Methods A prospective-retrospective observational study was conducted at the Central Diagnostic Laboratory of Shree Krishna Hospital between August 2021 and July 2022.

Purpose Of The Study: The main purpose of this study is to assess serum lipid levels in patients diagnosed with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). The secondary objective is to explore the association between these lipid levels, namely serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides, serum low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and the development of POAG.

Background: Glaucoma is a major contributor to global blindness, with elevated intraocular pressure as a key risk factor.
