Alders are widely distributed riparian trees in Europe, North Africa and Western Asia. Recently, a strong reduction of alder stands has been detected in Europe due to infection by species (Stramenopila kingdom). This infection causes a disease known as alder dieback, characterized by leaf yellowing, dieback of branches, increased fruit production, and bark necrosis in the collar and basal part of the stem.

Introduction: The development of stress-related psychopathologies, often associated with socio-emotional dysfunctions, is crucially determined by genetic and environmental factors, which shape the individual vulnerability or resilience to stress. Especially early adolescence is considered a vulnerable time for the development of psychopathologies. Various mouse strains are known to age-dependently differ in social, emotional, and endocrine stress responses based on genetic and epigenetic differences.

This perspective article explores the importance of fostering interest in gastroenterology among medical students and addressing the barriers that deter them from pursuing careers in this specialty. The paper highlights the critical role of early exposure to research, specialized electives, and mentorship in encouraging students to consider gastroenterology as a career choice. Current challenges include limited access to specialized electives and research opportunities within UK medical schools, inadequate hands-on experience, and a perceived lack of stability and control over future training pathways.

Triclocarban (TCC) is a common antimicrobial agent that has been widely used in medical care. Given the close association between TCC treatment and metabolic disorders, we assessed whether long-term treatment to TCC at a human-relevant concentration could induce nephrotoxicity by disrupting the metabolic levels in a mouse model. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) was applied to investigate the alterations in the spatial distributions and abundances of TCC, endogenous and exogenous metabolites in the kidney after TCC treatment.
