The cyclization of the hydroxy-allene 2 to the tetrahydrofuran 3 catalyzed by the gold-phosphoramidite complex 1, after ionization with an appropriate silver salt AgX, is one of the most striking cases of enantioinversion known to date. The major reason why the sense of induction can be switched from (S) to (R) solely by changing either the solvent or the temperature or the nature of the counterion X is likely found in the bias of the organogold intermediates to undergo assisted proto-deauration. Such assistance can be provided by a protic solvent, a reasonably coordinating counterion or even by a second substrate molecule itself; in this case, the reaction free energy profile gains a strong entropic component that can ultimately dictate the stereochemical course.

The functional organization of the human object vision pathway distinguishes between animate and inanimate objects. To understand animacy perception, we explore the case of zoomorphic objects resembling animals. While the perception of these objects as animal-like seems obvious to humans, such "Animal bias" is a striking discrepancy between the human brain and deep neural networks (DNNs).

Objective: This study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis, assessing the pooled prevalence and influencing factors of oral frailty in older people to assist healthcare professionals in enhancing their understanding of this condition and formulating efficient interventions.
Methods: This systematic review was performed based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses Statement (PRISMA) guidelines. We searched PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL, ProQuest, the National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WAN FANG DATA, VIP Information, SinoMed and Scopus for literature published in English or Chinese from inception to June 19, 2024.

It has been argued that realistic models of (singularity-free) black holes (BHs) embedded within an expanding Universe are coupled to the large-scale cosmological dynamics, with striking consequences, including pure cosmological growth of BH masses. In this pilot study, we examine the consequences of this growth for the stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) produced by inspiraling supermassive cosmologically coupled BHs. We show that the predicted SGWB amplitude is enhanced relative to the standard uncoupled case, while maintaining the [Formula: see text] frequency scaling of the spectral energy density.

With this short communication, which contains a new case report on diabetic ulcer, we summarize our research progress in treating several complex conditions at a point where currently available treatments were failing to help the affected patients. We review the first case of lower back pain due to severe spondylitis (T12-L1) treated with intravenous injections of a sterile fraction of human purified amniotic fluid (ViX001) obtained from thoroughly screened volunteers at the time of planned c-section at the term of normal pregnancies. Then, we review the first case of recalcitrant diabetic ulcer treated successfully by twice-daily applications of ViX001 directly on the wound and describe another case of diabetic ulcer treated successfully with ViX001.

The binding free energy of hydrogen-bonded complexes is generally inversely proportional to the solvent dielectric constant. This occurs because the solvent-accessible surface area of the complex is always smaller than that of the individual subsystems, leading to a reduction in solvation energy. The present study explores the potential for stabilizing hydrogen-bonded complexes in a solvent with higher polarity.
