Objectives: To explore the effects of antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) on the outcomes of very premature infants (VPIs) and neurodevelopment during infancy.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 190 VPIs admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 2020 to December 2022. The infants were categorized into four groups based on ACS usage and dosage: no ACS group (=18), single-course group (=88), multi-course group (=40), and partial-course group (=44).

Caring for the extremely premature infant born in the grey zone of viability is the most difficult area of neonatal medicine. Little research has been done on antenatal communication between neonatologists and parents anticipating the birth of a periviable infant. This article analyses 25 antenatal consultations between neonatologists and parents in one Midwestern hospital in the United States of America.

The phenomenon of perinatal distress in terms of depression, anxiety, bipolar, and psychotic disorders is well-explored in the West but barely investigated in South Asia; particularly research evidence highlighting the cultural expression of couples' mental health with respect to Pakistan is rare. The purpose of this research is to focus on the exploration of psycho-socio-cultural expression of couples' perinatal distress and coping strategies used in the Pakistani context in relation to maternal and paternal mental health, with implications for the wellbeing of their unborn or born progeny. The research design focused on qualitative interpretative approaches.

Midwife-led continuity of care may support maternal mental health throughout the perinatal period. Research is needed to better understand how continuity of care may support mothers experiencing depression in pregnancy.

Background: Shared decision-making supports women's autonomy in antenatal care, but several barriers to shared decision-making have been identified in practice. Women with high body mass index experience a higher rate of interventions, which could provide more opportunities for shared decision-making in antenatal care. However, weight stigma may exist as a barrier to shared decision-making, limiting access to collaborative care.
